asking missile users to aim is kind of counterintuitive.

I remember reading about Mechs or Omnimechs carrying Artillery. The Naga and Arrow IV come to mind. I do not remember the other items in this thread. I-ATMs sound interesting.

i would love an arrow cat. requires crit splitting though. then again im not against cutting its slot count in favor of making the ammo 2 slots per ton. it would totally need to be an aoe weapon though, full damage in a 10 meter radius, attenuated damage out to 75m. the missile would have some hitpoints so you would need 2 ams systems to avoid getting caught in the blast. with one ams you can take it out about halfway into the attenuated radius. would be fun as hell.

Considering how non-obsolete LRMs are now, despite being one of the objectively least powerful weapons in the game, I find that rather hard to believe. I would say have it just cut out the minimum range of the ATMs and only use the IMP ammo effects, otherwise the same as ATMs, only heavier.

Ammo switching is not required, as PGI's implementation of ATMs has proven. IMP would be functionally identical, just with a slow and heat effect applied in addition to the damage, and could be its own weapon system entirely.

How about we skip all this, and just add tactical nukes that don't deal friendly damage? You know, 60 or 70 million damage for the first 2000m, and linear drop off out to 100,000m.
