I enjoy it immensely now, however the pace of the game doesn't bother. For those people it does bother though, this is a good article to look over.

Neat.

I think the speedof the game is fine. But I played the Mechwarrior Tactics Beta once and there the animations were really way too slow for my taste. And that wasn't something one could mod out - it was an online game, after all. So it's nice to know some options exist for Batletech for the people that need it.

It's actually a fairly poor article. My Battletech isn't anywhere near my steam folder. They should pay more attention to what they're reporting on. I mean, the info's good stuff, but seriously, at least be comprehensive.

The speed fix here doesn't affect the speed of animations.

What it does is remove the really long pauses between turns and certain things such as attacks.
Evidently there's a series of intentional delays before certain events meant to keep the next action from occurring. These are usually to make it "hang" before an attack takes place or after one takes place so that you have time to get ready for it and to see what gets hit. After doing these simple changes (which removes the delays), you can start moving your next mech as soon as the attack ends instead of a full second after.

It helps a LOT on escort missions...but still something needs to be done about vehicles moving one at a time.

Yeah I just skip Escort related missions.

But they're easy money. Its just... the cars. With the changing of all the 1, 2 and 3 second delays for playing certain sounds (which also keeps everything else from happening), they are considerably more tolerable.

It is less annoying when defending a convoy. It is considerably more annoying when I have to chase them down.

Venture ahead of them and blast the enemy, then rally at the point. This can take some fun out of it though.

Side note: I've started to have situations where enemies are retreating from the battle. "I think this one's turning tail commander, we should stop it before it gets away."
Whats weird is this was during an escort mission.

I'll keep that in mind. What is more annoying for me is the amount of resources required to run the game. Task Manager shows that Battletech requires almost four gigs of RAM to run. That's easily over twice as much as MWO. Even though I have SSD, the loading time is unbearably slow as well. I can't even imagine how people can cope with that without SSD.

I have an SSD, so I don't know ,but it could very well be that the bottle neck isn't actually the file system here, but whatever they do with the stuff they load in.

A lot of the files to configure the game are JSON files, which is basically "just" text. But it's easy to handle text .. inefficiently, even if you're just doing stuff in RAM. One has to remember that the number 1024 and the string "1024" might seem like the same information that should cost the same, but the string version actually requires about 4 times as much memory than the 1024. And the string "01024" needs 5 times as much. And comparing "1024" to "1025" is more expensive than comparing 1024 to 1025.
