I will reserve my opinion until I see all the evidence.

Okay, so it'll do the 6 ERML + 2 Gauss build a little worse than the MCII-DS by due to being limited to an XL360 and it'll probably trade a DHS for ECM. Not gonna be running the builds that include ERLLs or HLL very often, I'd imagine, and the ST hitboxes look pretty bad, even if they do get some token structure quirks.

That said, it's still a 65 kph Assault, it still offers impressive firepower and it still gets ECM.

So... If our indicator for being DoA is "not being equal to the MCII-DS" then yes, the BlAsp is gonna be DoA. I'll believe that it's actually bad when I see it, though.

The two builds I'm looking forward to try are 3 UAC5s + 2 ER PPCs and 2 HLL 2 ERML (all in one shoulder) + 2 Gauss.

It's not going to be new meta, but it's got high mounts, clan tech, ECM, and should be viable enough.

It's going to have all of the inherent problems of the Cataphract along with weapons that allow it to lose STs long before it can even see what's shooting at it,

Blegh.

Ding Ding Ding!

Annnd probably without the durability quirks like Cataphract has as well.

That is what I thought about the Nova Cat but the Nova Cat tends to struggle. I mean I can absolutely have good matches with my Nova Cat, as long as I am lucky enough to not receive alot of attention. The second it becomes the primary target, I feel like the armor on it is made of tin foil. It is just way too easy to distinguish he CT from the STs and they are very big targets and this is without having two massive boxes sitting on top of my torso screaming, "Shoot Here".

I am pretty excited about the Blood Asp and I pre-ordered it the first week it was available for pre-order but I really don't know how viable it is going to be.

I honestly don't think the impressive firepower will mean much if it's squishy. People will just target it first if it's easy to remove from the battlefield.
The ECM will probably help it some, but in practice it won't save the BlAsp from (potentially) terribad ST hitboxes.

In my mind, the only saving grace for the mech could be the set-of-8 quirks, but most of the stock configs have fairly decent hardpoints, so I'm not expecting much from that department.

Regardless of all that, it should work as a reasonable ridge-peaking mech, but I honestly was hoping for more.

Theoretically you would think this would be the case but as large and tall as those pods are and the fact they are well above the cockpit means your going to be very visible long before your cockpit peaks over the top of the ridge and gives you cross hairs to work with.
