Doing my first play-through of Battletech as I got it on weekend and I'm kinda freshly hyped about MWO again even after having sunk well above 1000+ hours into it.
All those ****** default loadoats in Battletech make me want to play some crappy stock Blackjack here in MWO as well
I also hope this will drive fresh new players into the game as well
Sorry for irrelevant topic, wanted to share this for some reason
LocationStill doing ungodly amount of damage, but with more accuracy.

I guess. I just hope BT players will not get the wrong idea on the actual effectiveness of LRMs in MWO. Cause in BT, LRMs are awesome to the level of cheesiness, while in MWO they are meh.
Oh, and some of them might try to look for the "melee" key.

True that, though for new players, in low tiers LRMs are pretty good here as well
player exchange goes both ways and additional mechwarrior/battletech games will actually help the others. im kind of interested in it (havent dropped cash yet) and im not really into the turnbased tactical genre. and im sure some of the people in coming in from the other side might try mwo comming from battletech. mechwarrior 5 same thing. though it may be good in the long term, for the short term, its making the wait times atrocious.

Not as atrocious as Battletech's glacial loading time. I think the game causes memory leak, also. Need a lot of patches before BT becomes wholly satisfactory.
Oh you can bet there is a lot of bleed over of the two products. I am amazed there isn't more crossover promotions between the two products. Considering that HBS and PGI work together you would think we would see more in game adverts between the two products.
In any case it's a good time to be a MW fan. We have these two great games to enjoy and the one I am really looking forward to MW5:merc.
That game is going to take over my life assuming the AI can match the potential of the game.
It looks like the B-tech universe is alive and well in 2018.

memory leaks are good, that means they used a real programming language and not some virtual machine.

good news is that's on their first patch menu, they will address this issue

Yeah, cross promotions would be great, also some new steam pack and discounts for those that own both
I wonder if there was any consideration paid to how Solaris and Battletech release dates influence each other. Imagine Solaris release postponed until most people finish their first playthrough of Battletech. Solaris ads could have attracted new players craving for more robbits AND these people would have come to better populated queues, because existing MWO players would have returned to MWO too. Which means better Solaris matchmaking and no wait times. I'm afraid Solaris only had good queues in the week before the Battletech launch, then became half-deserted, not the best experience for those who were a little late to try it.

They could even sell cross-platform mechpacks. Like when you buy Crab or Raven DLC for BT you get the same in MWO, and then you go to MWO to try it out.
Nope, why should it? Most people who play Battletech and try MWO will move back to BT fast and spread bad word of mouth after the horrible new player experience.
BattleTech is good for MWO, MWO has been good for BattleTech, and both will be good for MW5:Mercs...and like wise.
More games in the BattleTech franchise is always a good thing.
Likely, though more isn't always better, like say 40k universe has a myriad of crappy games and barely few good ones, I'm always excited to see there is a new 40k game, but upon closer inspections it's almost always a letdown

Extra Credit did a couple of videos on it and they think in terms of monetary gain, Games Workshop's license spamming strategy had worked.
Of course, the WH universe is much more known than the BT universe, but many crap games of the IP is better than no games at all.

Thanks for the link, will be an interesting watch
In terms of money they had the best year ever, their stock price went up by 400% with the advent of 8th edition so we'll be seeing plenty more of their stuff to come

As long as they're good games that is.
There's been so much crаppy WH40k games that even if someone occasionally makes a good one, noone will bother to check it out.
wrote it before I read Dovis's post, that's funny.

I felt exactly like you, it faded after 2 solo Quickplay drops ... 2 drops. PGI does not know how to capitalize on the essence of battletech nostalgia other than the incredible mech designs.
PS: The players that migrate over from Battletech will drop for a while and the vast majority will run away, just like Solaris or even factionplay population.

Totally agree, has me itching to go buy some IS mechs but yea...
Though I truly want those Star League Mechs....the Highlander special model should be added to MWO....Do it as a limited thing for Mechcon or something and have a trade to HBS like a special Battlemaster or Thunderbolt(The Phoenix models)
