Dual HLL = 8 tons, 6 slots
Dual HGauss = 36 tons, 22 slots, STD engine only, + ammo
Just sayin'

Yeah, he also forgot to take into account the amount of slots and tonnage for the number of heatsinks needed to run dual HLL effectively.

HG has a very short range though. No, I am not saying that the Clan lasers should be nerfed, I am just saying the the HLL has a much longer range than the HG.

HG still does regular Gauss damage out to 630m with no skills applied... there's a bigger picture to look at outside of the optimal range bracket :)

2. As for my playstyle, I multi-role, but favor sniping. Also, even if I use a meta build, I may make my own small tweaks, like adding backup energy somehow on a completely ammo-dependent build. I also use 3 or 4 weapon groups, in which typically L/R arms are L/R mouse buttons, and torso(s) are Back/Forward thumb buttons respectively for torso weapons. I don't play assym if I can help it and I think stripping armor off a shield arm is a waste as I could use that arm longer with armor on it. I use weapon variety, and alternate similar weapon groups, maybe same time when heat neutral. I'm all about that heat management to keep firing without having to hide to cool off often. This is more true when I brawl as I won't have much luxury to hide and cool off. When I range I may fire all that can reach the distance I need, never touching short range weapons unless someone gets close. I also like to have mixed ranges most times, but my brawlers tend to be med-short. Does that answer your question?

Actually... yes Posted Image

I wasn't asking because of meta, I got over the uncreative same build - different player crowd rather quickly and now only fuss at cheapskate LRMers and leggers Posted Image
I asked because I wanted to figure out how the changes would reflect on your personal in-game experience. And, as I thought, the changes would have worked to your benefit.
You seem to prefer a straight up slugfest in the open, regardless of range, and the changes would have made it so that you wouldn't have to deal with those pesky poptarting, torso-twisting shoot'n'scooters anymore.
They would be forced to play your game and stare you down longer, giving you more opportunity to utilize your brand of heat efficiency (to clarify the brand part - i have several builds that no amount of coolshots would be able to save if you alpha strike even once, and yet i still consider them heat efficient).

So, how far off target am I? Posted Image

In a shorter answer this time - your assessment is mainly only true when I take something brawl-y. I find it usually difficult to close into range before I already lose at least one side from all those high damage alphas unless there's enough cover. Otherwise, as I said before, I do prefer ranged fighting (mainly PPC sniping) and using cover, which I will still do at medium ranges when flanking.

But yes, personally, the changes would work to my benefit, but I still adapt where I have to. Heck, even though these nerfs aren't going live, I'm already thinking about doing some refits as if they went live. Four HML can still be pretty hot when used together, even without ghost heat, not including other weapons I may fire.

They've nerfed the annihilators twice now. They originally released with the same armor quirks as the atlases (which had armor not structure quirks). Then they claimed they were reducing them because they didn't want the Annihilator to replace the atlas. Now they're reducing two variants only even further, because they're outperforming the rest...again because of the HGR build specifically being used on them. And the ANH-2A is more popular for it than the ANH-1X because more basic packs were sold than reinforcements, and they started being used for the twin HGR from the get go, not merely once they all released for c-bills. They're not nerfing the 1A which is just what people will switch to running with twin HGR instead...and then they'll nerf it... all the while never addressing the problem itself...which ISN'T the mech upon which the build is used, but the weapon package of twin heavy gauss rifles.

I seem to remember, it being stated, that balancing would be done only via QP.

That lasted a long time didn't it ;)

Aye, the problem is heavy gauss, not the Annihilator. People use the Annihilator for double hgauss because it's the most durable mech that can mount it, but any mech that can mount it is just as obscenely deadly. This doesn't solve anything beyond making the 1X the new default hgauss platform and nerfing every other non-issue ballistic Annihilator 2A build that isn't double heavy gauss.

Usually when you are able to login to webpage, the game server is going to be online in few minutes.

I have problems reworking the mechs that have been resetted due to the armor-changes. My Stalker always shows and error but does not specifiy what kind of error.

We should give energy draw a chance! Come on guys! Energy draw! :3

I mean at this point. GH has gotten more complicated than it initially was. You've got so many different weapons grouped together. And a confusing array of levels of GH you're allowed within that group.

Course it's not just about laser vomit. It's about Clan laser vomit specifically. And they don't want to buff IS lasers. So there's gonna be nerfs.

And now here I am, in need of an answer from Krist Smith...

I just noticed in the process of going to do the Game Patch that an Update is available for the MWO Portal. During the Previous Monthly Patch, I heard that people who had not done the Portal Patch ended up unable to properly do the MWO Game Client Patch, but I already had my Portal Patch done at the time, causing me to not be affected. If this is going to be the case with every Game Client Update, I really need to know why, and what's causing the need for this. :(

Like, are we in need of an Alert added to the Monthly Patch Notes, too?

All Clan Laser Changes are removed.

is that mean lasers rolled back to pre-nerf state? like 5 dmg spl, 5 heat erml, etc?

Blood Asp shoulder cannons are way too short, and the waddling walk animation is terrible.

Per their original patch notes, they look at whether you can do 30 damage in one shot.

They only mention the 30 damage point for laser weapons;

Quote

Clan Laser Design notes:
When heat scale values were initially set for the clan lasers, Many lasers where set to equal the number of lasers fired on the IS side with no mind to the overall damage output of those said lasers. With one of our core focus' being better baseline balance between the Clan and Inner Sphere factions, we have decided that allowing one faction to compound on easily boatable weapons that deal 40% more damage than their IS equivalents while still being able to combine with other weapons has become untenable. We are adjusting the heat scale on the clan weapons to equal the "30 damage" cap that was used to tune all other laser weapons. The clans will still retain their direct range, and 40% or higher damage over similar IS weapons, but maximizing their benefits will have to come with either more staggered fire or diverse weapon payloads.

Remember, kids, nothing is free! It's just a matter of which currency you're using.

To be fair, you literally can't fire a HGauss without spending tonnage & slots on ammo, whereas you can certainly fire a single HLL on your standard 10 DHS (or SHS if you're insane!)

But yeah, as many DHS as you can cram in to cool those buggers off Posted Image
