This change is horrendous. No more 4x HML or 5x cERML Mist Lynx.

Reducing the max grouping without a decrease to duration is especially egregious; now IS damage/tick is going to be considerably higher.

And the irony is that the biggest offenders, the Gauss Vomit 'Mechs, come away scott-free from a weapons standpoint. So what does PGI do? Goes full-on KDK-3 all over the MCII.

F*ck.

Killed the HLL and HML while damaging the ERML pretty hard.


This is not a small change done over time like they said things would be. This is the unfunning of MWO.

I laugh that they touched the Heavy Medium at all; it's not a good weapon. At best, it's a niche weapon, but it's not a niche that's particularly useful in absolute terms.

Its a brawling range weapon incapable of brawling due to having huge durations and high heat. Pretty much only sorta useful for the extremely niche laser alpha harasser lights. I give up on balance, I'll just accept my IS overlords already.

This really hurts clam mechs that have a small number of hard points.

Which sucks, shadowcat was so close to viable.

Trying to figure out how to even use all my hardpoints now on mechs like the HBK-IICA, MAD-IIC, HBR lasvomit, etc. I mean, yes, I can have two firing groups, but there are really no builds now that allow an alpha. I suppose that's PGIs goal, but it pretty much means playing those mechs is a lot less fun and less fun means less playtime/$$$. After the previous heat/duration nerfs you had to take care when playing the heavy vomit builds. Now, you simply cannot.

Hell, even my 2xC-Gauss 6xERML Deathstrike is no longer usable as is. I really didn't care for the 2xERLL 4xERML setup (too hot), but now its kind of the only option......

This HLL nerf is moronic. Why would anyone carry a single HLL now?

Just trashed my favorite, go to mechs... getting time for another hiatus possibly......

Laser vomit will still stay, albeit in lesser form. My Hellbringers will have 2xCLPL + 4xCERML post patch.

I will use single HLL with other lasers on my lighter mechs since they do not have much tonnage. As for MW5, that's a different ball game.

I feel like its necessary to reign in what a hellbringer can do, but I don't agree with the blanket changes.

If giga vomit hellbringers and hunchies are the problem adjust those mechs, or at the very least quirk up the GH limit on mechs with only a handful of hardpoints and even worse podspace.

(also, can we call this "thermal runaway" instead? That makes a lot more sense than "ghost heat.")

All this really does to the Hellbringer is roll it back to it's cool build - ERLLx2, ERMLx4. Certainly lacks the punch of the current HLLx2, ERMLx4 build, but its still hugely powerful. I'd argue it's still the best QP laser vomit mech in the game, simply because it's not really the lasers that carry it, its the ECM.

So when does the Clan ECM nerf roll out? September?

This actually destroyed my laser vomit linebacker (3x erml 2x hll).

On the bright side, i haven't played in forever, excluding a few games on s7 so looks like my retirement continues.
