... or give us an option to change it manually

Here are some examples I found, i think there are much more in the game.
Some are only inconsistent between left an right side (NGT, SNS... )
Others are worse, like the new Blood Asp or the changed Banshee.

And yes, most oft them should/could be higher. Higher points mean that the chassis needs fewer extra quirks. The game as a whole would benefit from fewer quirks. (And neither SNS nor BNC, NGT or NSR are overperforming, so the could get those little boost without any problems)

side note
read the pink comment, the upper red 1-4 must be 2-5
red 1. an yellow 1. are the same position an height, some others like upper red 2-5 (1-4) were in the same height like yellow 3 and 4.

side note: only for information were the highest ballistic hardpoint is. But the lower hardpoinds should be changed too

3M variant has the same problem like the 3S

side note
I dont know the order of the weapons, its only an proposal
In my opinion the smaller version of the should pod is better

The first priority I think is matching the artwork. I agree with PGI in that regard, so the Banshee's waist hardpoint needs to be filled first for it to work.

Uneven energy hardpoints on the Cicada 3M (when was the last time you saw one of those?) annoys me no end.

Yeah they're _deliberately_ bad, there's no excuse for them.

Regardless of anything, the first weapon I mount should always be on the highest location of that section!

just let people choose the weapon - hardpoint mapping (w/E-B-M-AMS hardpoint restrictions ofc, e.g. only ballistics can end up in ballistics slots).

Honestly, what engineer and tech crew modding a chassis would intentionally make the WORST choice for a hardpoint the first one, given the option of adding a weapon?

At worst, guns should go high to low in hardpoint order when added. At best, adding a weapon should open up a window allowing the user to choose which available hardpoint location the weapon is added to.

Well in that case. If you look at the artwork it's capable of mounting 4 laser hard points on a single shoulder. SO if we want to make the artwork, well, work. They need to put those energy points back where they belong. :0

If they ever start this the Black Knight should be first on the list. One of if not the tallest mechs in game and all the hardpoints are low.

heck no! no more high hardpoints, this high hard point meta needs to stop its making all the mechs more generic and meta. some mechs should have high and some should have low to keep the mechs varied. infact these high hardpoints are going to make mechs that cant move arms sideways like rifleman etc obsolete. Point is there should be trade off, and asetheticly pleasing too, not geared toward hill peeking 80 alpha peek aboo.
