not being able to get out of the mech and run around with our character/toon/pilot is a mistake.

folks want to be able to see their toons in something other then a headshot photo on the ui.

Auto Assault was a mmo that centered on vehicular combat.
almost as soon as they started the early betas folks were clamoring to get out and walk about the towns.
devs realized their mistake and added the ability to get out of their weaponized vehicles and explore the towns a few months before launch.

Pirates of the Burning Sea was a mmo centered on naval combat.
again they found in beta that folks wanted to leave the ship and see their toons and explore the ports.
the devs not only granted this but added avatar combat to the mix.

i want to walk get out of my mech and move about the hangar/dropship/base whatever.
i want to see my toon interact with other players in the mission room as we plan liberating planets from tyrannical davion dogs.

leaving us in the mechs all the time will pretty much just make this more of a mech FPS multiplayer then a proper mmo.

it seems though that i am in the minority on this from what i have read on this site.

my impression is this game will be far more like modern warfare 3 in mechs then potbs set in space.

not saying that is bad thing...just that it might not be what i was looking for.

will have to wait and see how things develop.

I don't. Got the microwave, the holovid receiver and the mini-fridge in here. Okay, the bodily wastes are sort of an issue... but in case of doubt you can open the hatch and... you know what... :D

ya but we are CREATING characters/toons/pilots that we take from mech to mech and they have stats and level up.

the mechs our toons/pilots drive also have stats and gain xp and such..we get to see and manipulate them in combat and whatever else.
why not the same deal for the pilots?

Errrrrr ... No.... the amount of time and effort it would take to implement something that ridiculous would detract from the overall quality of the product. You'll be able to see your mech when I blast you out of it.

Q. Can I get out of the Mech?

A. Will you be able to get out of the Mech? No. One of our gameplay design pillars is that we are putting you in the role of the pilot (MechWarrior®) in a first person perspective.

Do you know what a design pillar is?

sure do..devs in auto assault and potbs had the same design pillar.
they changed it.
first thing you learn testing games (was in QA for many years) is nothing is set in stone(other then IP concerns and even then you can bend them alot) ANYTHING can be changed.
as i said i know i am in the minority here.
just wanted to see if there were any like minded individuals.

I think we can pretty much close this up since it's flame bait that is only going to cause a lot of grief down the long run.

Please refer to the MWO FAQ for questions like this.
