I was curious today and wanted to do a build unseen but then I thought "MRMS and Srms seems nice" but then I stopped and thought to myself why aren't those 2 being used together.I know one has more range then the other but and can do more damage but using Mrm10 and Srm6 together turns out to be quite devastating up close and really effective for backstabbing.Only drawback is you will have to use 2 different ammo type's....Could anyone explain me why most mechs for backstabbing don't use Mrms and Srms together? And also is it really effective together?

No.

They don't share ammo so it's an ineffective use of tonnage. Fire rate is different as are cooldowns/spread etc.

More importantly they share a ghost heat group. Unless you're using SRM2s which has it's own separate group. It's simply more effective to run one or the other.

I only have one build that does both, and it's a brawler. 2x mrm20, 2x srm2, LBX10, 2 LMG. Roughneck, lfe engine. The LBX and MRM is a cloud of damage at range, the LMG and SRM are anti-light and other folks you can stare at up close. It's good if you wait, bad if you go in when they are fresh. Can also neuter piranhas.

I did mention I am a bad player? The weapons break down into 2 weapon groups, based on range band and function. The LBX and MRM are about the same range and are both spread weapons. The SRM and LMG, I use together at srm range, and the rate of fire on srm2s is pretty constant, faster than I can shoot/twist/shoot.
