Peaked at the inventory tap and noticed I had a bunch of cERLL lasers, so I sold off a few.
Then I noticed that I had 95 cSPL...

What is a reasonable number of weapons to stockpile in case weapons become usable again?

Or don't sell anything and keep hording away just in case?

I try to keep 20 or so of any small weapon, maybe 4-5 of the big guns like AC20's in reserve.

Otherwise I just sell em.

I think the only way to figure that would be "if I decided I wanted to make use of this weapon again, how many mechs would I use it on and how many would I need for their builds?".

If you only have 3 mechs you would use cSPL on, and they total to 24 energy slots, you only need to reserve 24 cSPL.

For weapons that aren't completely useless in the current meta I tend to keep on hand enough to fill out ghost heat limits, like 6 ERML or 2 CERLL. Otherwise I just sell them all if they're worth selling because I don't know how many years it will take PGI to fix them.

I never sell weapons, engines, or equipment if I can help it.

The last 10 mechs I've set up have only costed me the upgrades.

I rarely bother selling stuff...

That said, if I do, I sell a lot of inefficient engine sizes (like the 275), LRMs, Streaks and sell whatever stacked up beyond 24 to 30 units (which, considering GH, equals fitting four to five Mechs from scratch).

i never keep more than a dozen of anything, high value weapons as few as 6. i do keep at least one engine of every type and weight class, usually selling duplicates of less common, seldom used sizes. but i dont just go in and sell things, i usually have something i want to buy and will only sell enough stuff to make the cbills needed. i usually start with the lerm racks, and any other weapon i really dont like, then anything over abundant.

i also keep all my mechs fully equipped as well. so if i stripped everything id probibly crash a server.

The question is do you need the money right now in order to buy something on sale? The only thing I really feel like I HAVE to sell are single heatsinks, everything else, may get a use. That having been said, it occurs to me with the new Cache system, I will need to do some cleaning, cause that stuff is pure random ID table junk. How many Clan narc launchers should I keep?

I just keep every thing except mechs I hate. I sell those faster than a donut seller outside a police station. I could probably outfit all my mechs but i constantly change them any way. It's nice to have all the things for when you want to try a new build or go back to an old favorite.

the methodology id use is: if you were going to boat that weapon, how many would you be able to practically use, given the most boatworthy chassis? if you have more than that number, sell. and id advise starting with the weapons you dont like.

utility weapons like narc, i usually keep one or two. its just not something i usually use except once in a blue moon. last time i used a narc boat im sure my entire team reported me for non participation. but to be fair i did narc 4 mechs that died to lerms and i was very drunk at the time.

my rule of thumb is 20 tons of each item. likely you dont need more then 2 10+ton items and the smaller ones can get packed on when boating fast.

...

I dont know how, but I ended up like 2 months after they added civil war tech with 20+ light ppcs. I dont even know how.

Generally no more than 4 to 6 of small to mid sized weapons, and 2 for the big ones. But I rarely bother with selling unless I have an immediate need for c-bills. Most of the time I sell down my stocks it's after I've gotten a dozen or more of the smaller guns an 3 to 5 of the bigger ones. I tend to sell off any odd sized engines. (240 standard? 340XL? Nope, get rid of them.)

They net so miserable sell price that it is simply not worth to sell, even 99 of them. I just keep everything I get.

The is a point there where after a while you will get way more than you ever need.

As for myself I have been tempted to just sell all of it and start over. Why? because it is like having money in a Savings account. It is nice to have but you can't use it for anything. Honestly if I count all my extra omnipods, engines, weapons, etc I probably have around 150-200 million credits tied up in inventory that is sitting there doing nothing until/unless I get a new mech or change builds. Also even at the cost of having to buy everything fresh and new as I go along, I still kind of feel I would come out ahead.

The reason why I might end up doing this that because I still have about 10-15 or more mechs without their own unique engine and at 3-5 million C-bills a pop to cost that is alot of C-bills. I also have a ton of mechs that are skill maxed quite simply because I can't afford to pay for the skill nodes. However if I sold literally everything I could afford to outfit and skill every mech I have with probably some C-bills left over.

On the other hand, it is nice to have tons of inventory available for those times when you do want to experiment, try something new or have to rebuild a dozen or so mech because of a nerf which is why I haven't sold everything off.

I skill most mechs up as I play them, the money comes with the exp. This only becomes more of an issue during a double exp weekend, when the ratio is off, and it cuts into my "that build needs work, how can I fix it" pocket money. Even this weekend with buying the double/double (first win) skills for 20 or so mechs, I was able to purchase a Treb and "unstock" it, it now runs well (even if it isn't carrying entire matches).

-edit I forgot that I do run premium time and I never use consumables, that may effect things...

I recently just sold off all weapons. Still have plenty of engines though and will not sell those off.
