Hey Viktor, seen you around alot mate. Was the Awesome fully skilled? Looks like a mech that needs the full survival tree to be even worth a dame. I can see the grind in mine probably wouldn't be fun till I have atlest 50 skill points in it.
To be honest no but I don't think fully skilling it out would help all that much. Its speed and agility I feel is actually well above average for its weight so didn't really need anything from the mobility tree. Heat was very managable, at least with the build I was using which generally speaking is very close to what I run on my Bounty Hunter with great success so it really didn't feel like it needed heat related or even firepower related skills either. Also the damage I was taking wasn't in the form of LRMs/ATMs so having radar derp while I am sure it is something it could benefit from wasn't a factor in the poor performance I was experiencing.
So that only leaves Survival which it would have definitely benefited from but I don't think even a fully maxed survival tree would be enough to completely offset how fragile it felt to me. I would even go as far as saying that the mech felt broken to me. I know it isn't but the 92 armor I had on my CT just seemed to melt away and felt more like having 20-30 armor instead. I think it is simply because the hitboxes are so big that it is very easy for the enemy to achieve full burn, burst, etc on any targeted location.
As much as I really don't have the extra money to really burn on it, I might try to skill it up to 30 points or so and max out survival and see what the result is but I don't have any high expectations.
The be honest, I think the only way the Awesome would have any chance at being fixed is if they reworked the model, which we know they won't do at this point. That image someone posted earlier in this thread depicting that I think it was a resin model of the Awesome with the slimmed down torso would probably be the ideal fix for it. The only other option would be to give it like another 30 armor on the CT and 25 on the STs via quirks, ON TOP of the structure quirks and it isn't really realistic to give it Annihilator levels of armor.
In any case, it was interesting to roll back time and give one of the ancient mechs a spin. There have been alot of oldies that we don't see anymore that are actually very good with all the changes and new tech. I resurrected my favorite mech from back in the day, the Quickdraw and while it isn't top of the line anymore by any means (if it ever was hehe), I am having alot of fun with it. Too bad the Awesome didn't turn out to be a hidden gem like I was hoping.
