Yea, that's a Gundam right?
It's got the little gun and the shield. PGI should have gone all out and gave it one jumpjet.
Maybe you can chain fire small lasers, and BAM... light saber.

It obviously has some gundam/macross influence in design, kind of like the phoenix hawk

With Hazeclaw on that, feels like it is Influenced by Gundam 00 and Iron Blooded Orphans with that waist, and chest.

The Incubus is a Macross design? Say it isn’t so, y’all.
If that’s accurate, it’s a pretty brassy move to make when they’re in the middle of copyright litigation over Macross mechs. It’s like walking up to a cop with a lit blunt in your mouth, blowing dank bud smoke all over him, and giving him the double-pump bird while yelling “suck it, 5-0!”

It is a Macross design. The thing is, Harmony Gold can only really claim ownership of the original series. They're d**ks about it, still but there's plenty of Macross designs they really have absolutely no power over.
The ones Vixen is made from, included.

The Incubus is not a Macross design. It was illustrated by Victor Musical Industries, although the designs made by them were inspired by mecha anime.
The MWO version takes design cues from both unseen and reseen renditions:
Unseen:
Reseen
MWO

People at VMI were literally just updating the design of Phoenix Hawk.
And they were in luck as around the time they were working on this, Macross 2 came out with an updated version of Valkyrie (what is a Phoenix Hawk in Battletech). Oh, and they were led to believe Battletech/Mechwarrior owned the designs. Go figure. And stop trying to rewrite history. We're not Harmony Gold coons or anything of the sort.

Macross is a much larger property than just the original Macross which Harmony Gold converted to Robotech. HG has zero claims to any of the "characters" to begin with it turns out, but that is regarding the original Macross. The Sequels and offspring they don't even have that much claim on.
And hey, I'm glad PGI has balls over this. It appears that the Unseen issue may (may, not is, or certainly will be in Battletech's favor, but may be, and if so, it is thanks to PGI) FINALLY be settled.... thanks to PGI, not FASA, HBS, CGL, etc.
So should PGI prevail... let the Reddiots stick that in their hashpipe and smoke it.

This explains why I instantly got a 'anime mecha' vibe.
