Okay, look guys, i can't disagree with you. I know exactly what i am getting into when i queue solo. I am surprised when i see lifers that drop solo and still whine... well okay not really surprised...

I guess my point is why can't there be a kiddie pool in FP for people to sample the mode w/o getting turned off by curbstomps?

The population is not growing, due in no small part to the inherently high learning curve to the game + the mode. You throw in curbstomps and you have very little motivation to stick to it.

Yes we can throw our hands up and say "not our problem" i don't fault you if you do, i still think, for all its faults, FP is the best mode in the game, would hate for it to die...

Same reason we do not have a kiddie pool for those pilots that hate curbstomps in QP and GQ.

No matter how much you baby proof, hand out safety blankets, bubble wrap all corners, and try to hug it all out, someone will get hurt and someone will loose.

Only solution for these 'special cases' is to make a Safe Queue. Nobody can win. Nobody can loose. All games are a Tie. No end of match score to judge yourself or others. When your Mech is 'destroyed' it just shuts down and can't be shot at anymore. Everyone earns the same XP and C-bills so nobody can do better then anyone else. Nobody can talk or type to gain any advantage over another. Only Trial mechs because nobody should be able to build a mech better then someone else. Lastly, Clan can only fight Clan and same with IS, because Clan OP and IS OP BS.

But you do have a kiddie pool in solo qp, its called tier5. S7 will match you based on elo. You can't solo comp, anyone that blunders into a mode called "comp" expecting a kiddie pool has issues in comprehension...

This is why FP is kinda unique, the closest comparison is prolly group QP, but again, no solos...

Look i love the tough organizrd games, but they are going to end up fewer and fewer... its just a question of how fast it will deteriorate.

ELO in Solaris is a joke because of population.

I've played like 150 games and I still get matches against people that have no clue. It's all about population.

What you are proposing here will hurt population. It will also be easily worked around (sync drop). So yeah... Not going anywhere.

Asking for PGI to do anything is a bad idea. I hope they never touch the mode again. As we have learned.

(See everything PGI has done since the end of phase 2)

We know right away anything they do to the mode will be terrible and stupid. Driving away the last, Most die hard remnants of what was once a community that was larger than the current population of the entire game.

We are playing in the ashes of CW. Its dead. Its not coming back ever. MWO its self is on the way out. Sacrificed for Russ's vision of MW5.

I do not know what the fix is for FP. Folks will do things that are counterintuitive and self destructive.

Just wondering if it would make sense to prevent groups from dropping in FP during "off-times"...

I have no idea if this could be implemented, but if there was only pug vs pug in those times when one side usually can't even muster a full team, it may actually attract players during those time periods and players then may actually get a better taste for FP if they are not getting repeatedly curb stomped.

During peak EU & NA hours (SEA?) you would be able to drop in groups.

Terrible idea?

You got 90% of QP players who are scared as FK to attempt Faction Play let alone not having "Proper Builds" and not playing alongside teams because they don't want to play against teams and they are NOT willing to learn. They know their builds with LRMS will FAIL because we've warned them well over a thousand times. That's how bad the Community is for this game. I rather play against teams than playing against pugs but its FP. "First Come First Served". That idea of yours will never work.

Right now PGI just simply showing major signs of incompetence because the staff is not willing to work the problems.

Look at how many events we've had going on for example, They only covered QP. That's been a serious problem since the start of 2018. and PGI and their Staff are not willing to fix that. Making events that work for BOTH modes is what makes players want to play. Not a single PGI staff member has been seen attempting to help Faction Play nor put daily events to help it out. Its not us that are at fault for this fiasco, Its PGI's Fault and they damn well know it.

If you know someone is incompetent, Why then would you ask them to do anything? LOL. I really dont want them to touch the mode again.Because what we will get will be more of a dumpster fire than we have now. As they are incompetent.

TLDR Shut up and play while you still can.

Call me crazy, but i still have hope...at least a little bit.

There are enough indicators of activity and loyal fans to this mode. Additionally the new players from BT (and there are some) like FP because of the Drop Deck mechanic of using 4 mechs. Its the same mechanic like in BT and so FP is a popular mode of them.

I hope they do at least small improvements to show the will for serving us, then our unit would open the money bags again.
Also we recruited and/or trained new recruits/players in a decent amount the last weeks...for FP! Posted Image

Edit:
Always trying to correct my bad english^^

More than any splitting of queues, MWO needs a DECENT social system. Splitting the LFG ingame between QP/FP. Making it easier for people to coordinate attacks and make them goddamn mean something. Giving the ingame tools to guys like the OSOs, MS and HHoD to recruit greener pilots to take them into FP, under guidance. The bar needs not to be higher, but lower but it needs to be easier to have a coach next to the track.

In addition i have to say:

We OSOs also have a youth section (seperated on our TS channels for youth protection) - called JASS (Juicy Assassin Squad)
We have a "Clan-Spin-off" - called THC4
and OSOG - our generals unit which is merc

So yeah PGI, give us better tools to coordinate and implementate beginners.

Its annyoing that we cant see in LFG symbols if the guy is Looking for a QP or FP group. Just 2 colours would solve this problem.

Next point is:

If we are premade and the enemy too, pugs wont find a match because we are always in lobby first. There should be a connection that we have transparency over the queues again.

These are only things NOT regarding the game mode itself, so i imagine it shouldn't be too hard to do this.

Please stop trying to dumb down the group play mode of this game for the sake of people who refuse to group.

Seriously... Quick Play and Solaris are available for soloists.

Leave Faction Play to those of us who enjoy the greater strategic challenge of group vs group play.

Not much of a kiddie pool Moving when just by the fact of standing there you will be moved out of it into deeper waters.

If by the T5=Kiddie Pool line of reasoning, then CW should have a hard lock of must be T3 or higher to play, in addition to no Trials as they would be the water wings that keep the kiddies from sinking.

Can't solo comp? 1v1 Solaris is comp tween two players and that 'comp' mode has long filtered out most mechs to whereas only a few are used to maximize effectiveness. New players blunder into that cluster...

I've long advocated for a simple velvet rope/attunement/baseline min reqs for FP... It literally seemed like the best and least difficult approach as it keeps the unprepared from stumbling in and makes anyone who does, accountable for their own stupidity as they can't hide behind "inexperience" (almost did a spit take Saturday when a pug asked how to deploy a UAV).

I would rather have an attunement process (see my comments about the academy) then simply restrict trial mechs, though that is tempting as well. Make it 15-20 of time in the Academy for FP-related concepts, throw a few cbills at the person for doing it and then they are at least versed enough to shoot gate gens and not gates... It'd be a great chance to play with their AI more as they could orchestrate a simulated curbstomp and say "if you don't like that, find a group!"

The other thing, this might get shouted down as well, perhaps make it that you MUST be a 12 man or solo. No inbetween, then queuing *might* be able to pair groups and solos as necessary, only mismatching if there is an overflow of one or the other. This would only be a slight difference from what we have now...

As much as I hate the idea of deviating from the group play aspect of FP, having this idea OP mentioned will definitely help bring up the population numbers of FP as the steep learning curve of FP is made gentler.

No.

Anything that makes it difficult for groups in the mode designed for them is a big fat nope. We need to be less concerned with the solo experience since there is quick play for that. Soloing is hard and rightfully so. Instead of coming up with all kinds of ideas, most of which have been gone over and over again on this forum is not in any way productive, we should be looking at how to get groups together. It seams like the looking for group option doesn't work so well. Not surprised since a player sees a name and that's it. My experience is that you are far less likely to tell someone no if they pop by your TS and start chatting.

So lets start asking what is practical that can be done to try and get people together. An official PGI TS or Discord perhaps that is well publicized in game might be a way to get folks together. We need more discussion and ideas to get team mode to be played as such. It's time to put to rest concerns over the solo experience, as again there is quickplay for that.
