I'm curious which are you?

I am a much better IS pilot over all.. Even my top Clan mechs are under what my top IS mechs are in terms of W/L, match score, average damage ect..

having separate accounts i can actually track it across all mechs, and it is actually kinda surprising how much lower my clan skills seam to be. Sometimes nearly a 5k player drop on the boards. Though i will say my top clan mechs are close to IS level, but even still, every single one of my top 5 mechs IS side have higher ratings than my clanners.

So what about you, which side do you perform best in?

Even Steven. I enjoy playing as IS more, but all my best performing mechs are Clan mechs.

Looking at W/L & K/D stats and splitting by weight class, it really depends how low/high I set the "matches played" cut-off.

With as low as just 40 matches played, the only IS 'mechs are the Raven & Rifleman.

Going lower to 30 matches played, none of my IS 'mechs have performed better than my Clan ones.

Going even lower to 20 matches played, IS start showing up higher. Best W/L in Light, Medium & Assault, only losing in the Heavy category. However, K/D category is solid Clan 'mechs.

So...

I perform better in Clan 'mechs, once I learn how best to pilot them, I guess?

Clan by a considerable margin.

Evidence here

Here are my stats:

Dogstar - average match score 217 over 103 matches (season 15)

Mechatankzilla - average match score 307 over 80 matches and counting (season 16*)

Clan, but that's because I get sucked into the Mechlab if I have to decide between top speeds and lasers and armor and jumpjets and... ;)

IS let's me get away with about 50% more

I spend more time in the mechlab and in a clan mech trying to figure out the best left hook for those overquirked tin cans.

I don't play enough of a variety of Clan 'Mechs to give you an worthwhile answer and some variants get skewed because I only play them under certain conditions, giving them a small and tainted sample size.

If we want to track performance down to only 10 games played, which is as low as I am willing to count, my performance is as follows:

For WLR:
Lights - Jenner IIC @ 6.00 over 21 games; was played with a competitive group back before it was enlarged and hasn't been touched since
Mediums - Shadow Cat B @ 3.89 over 45 games
Heavies - Orion 1V @ 4.00 over 10 games; I don't even own this anymore, this sample is complete garbage
Assaults - Nightstar Wolf Phoenix @ 4.00 over 15 games

Tie between Clan/IS by chassis, edge to Clan by score total.

For KDR:
Lights - Mist Lynx G @ 6.33 over 38 games; only comes out during group play because it's the only Light I have that can keep pace with the kills
Mediums - Blackjack 1X @ 2.81 over 667 games
Heavies - Marauder Bounty Hunter 2 @ 2.97 over 71 games
Assaults - Nightstar 9S @ 2.42 over 36 games

IS wins handily.

But let's set the cut-off at 100 matches. At that cut-off, my best Light is the LCT-1E(C) at 144 matches with a WLR of 1.92 and a KDR of 3.56. This gets funny, though, because I also have stats for the basic LCT-1E. The stats for that one are considerably further down at a WLR of 1.27 and KDR of 2.71 across 559 matches. If I provide a weighted average, combined performance is WLR of 1.36 and KDR of 2.88 across the total of 703 matches. The LCT-1E(C) is not weighted down by me learning the game, so I prefer to use that as the metric.

My MLX-ED, on the other hand, is one 'Mech with no baggage and it isn't really that far behind the Champion Locust. With 297 matches, it has a WLR of 1.79 and a KDR of 3.46. In this case, I'd probably call it a wash score-wise and give favor to the MLX which, in my experience, has performed much more consistently.

Interestingly, my Ember is runner-up if I drop the cut-off to 75 matches. Most of those are solo, but it is tainted by a fair number of group queue games. Its WLR is 1.88 and its KDR is 3.95.

For Mediums, my top performer is the Shadow Cat Prime with a WLR of 1.67 and KDR of 2.07 across 241 games. That's a cERPPC build. But the BJ-1X is hot on its heels with a WLR of 1.60 and a KDR of 2.81 across a whopping 667 games. This is a total wash, and not really worth much since the only Mediums I play with an regularity are Shadow Cats and Blackjacks, and the next few entries down the list with enough games to count are all Blackjacks.

Heavies, I have no Clan 'Mechs with the requisite 100 matches. For IS, the MAD-5D is winning handily at a WLR of 1.74 and KDR of 2.22 across 446 games.

Assaults are even worse. In fact, I only even have two IS Assaults that meet the cut-off, the BLR-3M and MAL-2P, both of which are pretty abysmal at 1.10/1.15 WLR and 1.65/1.55 KDR, respectively, because I suck arse in Assaults.

Only use IS, so you know what my answer is. Plus being a fan boy of the old style of Mech has me hooked. If I see a Hunchback walk slowly past me, I'm like "Dame, girl you got a fine bum." I do own Clans, you need to try out what every one is talking about. But it is a very rare sight, that you will ever see me, pilot a Clan Mech. You better take a photo.

is mechs are more fun. you cant out perform the clans in laser vomit and campy builds, but you can use mrms, srms and the less jam happy is uacs to really make some noise. on the clan side i am for precision high alpha, more clean and elegant, better in high teamwork situations, but can be easily overwhelmed by the cooler running is brawlers.

there are differences, but i wouldn't say one side is generally better than the other. though there are things each side does better. as for me personally i can adapt to either side. i chart my best builds and find the top 10 are a good mix of is and clan mechs.

Light mechs: clan
Medium mechs: very slightly better with clan
Heavy Mechs: Inner Sphere
Assault mechs: vastly in favor of clan mechs

IS, primarily because when I pull the trigger on the autocannons they don't dribble all over the target.

I think it depends on what mechs you own. I like playing my cravenmech, can opener raven, dual ppc adder, and my 6 cer large SNV 1 the most.

If I want to win a match/do well I think it'd have to be my SNV 1. It's just good in a lot of the situations I find myself in.

I have separate IS and Clan accounts, but my Clan Account is older and much more played, so I can't judge accurately.

I do prefer Clan mechs to IS mechs, because of versatility..

And there are things that the Clans can offer than IS cannot..

And I prefer clan stories over IS stories in Lore.. so..

I guess I'm a natural Wolf.
