If starting portal and you get a message to patch.
And all it does is preparing for 30 seconds the just goes away without a word.
Then try disabling your antivirus, it always fails with adaware antivirus and theres no error, no popup, no notification of any kind.

Just thought I'd put this work around here for anyone else having problems.

if your antivirus blocks the patcher because it doesnt like the behaviour of patching multiple files, I'm not so sure thats the patchers fault ....
