I know it has probably been requested before, but I keep wondering why there is no way to switch mechs after the map has been chosen in quick play. From a lore perspective, it does not make sense, because no Mechwarrior ever said "Yeah, just drop me wherever, no need to know where I end up, I will be fine!" And from a gameplay perspective it does not make sense either, because it is just not enjoyable to be a Brawler on Polar Highlands or a Lurm Boat on Solaris City. And should that not be the goal of the game? To be enjoyable?
I can only assume that the reason behind this is to not tip the balance between the two sides of the match. So here is my suggestion: Why don't you allow everybody to switch their mechs, but just to a mech of the exact same weight? That should remove potential abuse and ensure that a 50 ton medium mech replaces a 50 ton medium, 100 ton assault replaces 100 ton assault, etc.
That would also be a nice incentive for players to own and skill multiple mechs of the same type / weight, which can only be good for the game and PGIs revenue stream. I can't believe a drop down menu of all the mechs with the same weight can be that much work to implement...

Not a good idea at all. If anything, this mismatch of mech loadout versus map chosen will highlight the weakness of your own mech for not being more rounded.

Is educating a player worth penalising the player - and more importantly - his whole team? I don't think it is.
