Not Enough Matches On Hot Maps

It’s not that I don’t want to play ice maps, just not on this Heavy a rotation. Hot maps have an almost non-existent rotation.
I just crave more variety and more thoughtful use of weapons.

Or we had environmental randomness like we do day/night cycles. Rather than it being "Polar Highlands", it's just "Highlands" and you won't know the heat level until you drop. Maybe it's a desert highland and you're gonna be a little roasted. Maybe it's just a regular temperature. Or perhaps it's actually a polar icebox.
Imagine Terra Therma only it's an extinct volcano with water flows and ponds instead of lava, for example. Or frozen ice. Minimum work to change the maps, but significantly altering the gameplay.

How about in the search box we get check boxes next to every map and game mode. The more you maps and game modes you check off, the faster your wait time will be, the fewer you check, the longer it will be. People could at least get what they wanted then, fastest wait times for any map or mode, slowest wait times for a single map and game mode.
We could actually have epic light battles on conquest again! Those were the days.

This would hurt build diversification, solidify meta, increase buckets and create huge wait times. Folks would build the high heat sniper for the cold, open map, the low heat sniper for the hot open map, the hot brawler for the cold tight maps, etc. Then they would only que for that map. New players without these specialized builds would get slaughtered and the game would get very repetitive fast. Folks ***** about random maps because they bring bad builds or have limited skill sets. Good players instead ask for the removal of map voting for a pure random system.
-edit, yes I have LRMed on solaris and mining, brawled on polar, and brought crabs to terra therma. And won.

It would increase build diversity, as currently people just bring standard meta builds that work well on all maps, thus the rise of laser vomit in the first place.

You'd see just as many or more once people realized that high heat maps hurt the builds with 10 heatsinks a whole lot more than the 20+ heatsink high alpha laser builds since its just a flat heat generation caused by the map rather than lowering your heat gen percentage wise.

The problem with both, IMHO, is that TT still is a run to mid, although much better than the previous version and for Caustic, it's nascar inducing.
I think the layouts for both needs a bit of modification without necessarily a complete rebuild.
Might be a factor that both Tourmaline and Rubalite appear to be friendlier to different engagement ranges than the other two.

The build diversity would be spread across 15 buckets. You would see the same mechs on the same maps all the time. So experiential diversity would be like Lincoln Nebraska vs Caribou Maine vs Natchez Mississippi vs Chongqing China. Lots of diversity if you travel, but very little if you actually look around on the street.

You see the same build everywhere? I am not speaking about CW, or GQ, I am speaking about QP. Because that's what folks want to do, they want to change QP so that you see linebacker rushes or battlemaster ERLL spam.

Mid range alpha through lasers/ballistics/ppfld is the meta in quickplay, not everyone plays the meta.

So you admit, not "the same build *everywhere*."? And pray do tell me, what is this single meta build?
-edit, sorry, I am slow, I just figured out you are a CW/group player. You want to be able to tailor your mech like you tailor your drop deck. Lets leave it at we disagree, enjoy your CW.

Majority of my play is in quickplay, though I much prefer the CW system of tailoring drop decks. I honestly play so many more mechs in CW than I do in QP just because they end up having some use there while in quickplay they'd be deathtraps.
