I for one have immensely enjoyed this event. I tried to pin point the source of my joy. I came to one conclusion, Clan mechs were largely missing from the queues. Innersphere vs Innersphere and Clan vs Clan should be a thing ... especially during a Civil war ?

I generally feel the same way when running clan vs clan. The better you understand the enemy, the more fun you should have. It's when you get nuked and you don't know how that you get pissed. At least that's been my experience.

I still see plenty of clan mechs event or no event . Dunno why they skipping it . If anyone needs extra cbills its clan lovers.

I estimate my clan account will score plus minus 20 million cbills if i complete all the challenges.
I wants me a nu timberwulf .

Another cool thing about doing it on my clan account is that I dont fall in love with some IS chasis and burn mechbays to feed my greed . I adopted 5 mechs so far and had to buy 2 mechbays at full price to have one spare mechbay to continue the event .

It takes 2 matches per mech average and most clan loyalists don't own many IS unless they have been around for a bit.

Thats the point of trial mechs and discount mechs . I dont own any but thats never been a problem . IS mechs are dirt cheap full stop . I have done multiple events wanting IS weapons or mechs I dont have .
I always feel sorry for IS loyalists who have to do an event in a clan mech or tech they dont own . Now thats a cbill killer .

Sure i suppose cbill wise its not 100 percent profitable buying using then selling as opposed to already owning that mech but I do score extra cbills and I keep all the MC .

I do now regret selling that Canada day BattleMaster prize . Far too many events that I could have made use of it .

This event can be nearly 100% profitable for everyone as long as you are willing to play 3029-era stock mechs. That is no endo, ferro, single-heatsink, and slow movement. Since the sale value is 50%, and when you sell the mech you get about 50% of the original mech's value, so it is profitable as long as you sell the mechs back and do not buy things like double heatsinks and/or endo or new engine.

I am currently doing this with my second account (my first account almost have all mechs needed). I usually do 200~300 damage, 100 at worst. so about 2~4 matches one mech is done. It is not that bad.

FP map should have been Steiner + allies vs. Davion + allies, and Warden Clans vs. Crusader Clans. Even as a week long event woulda been fine. :(

@Asym: I remember when you joined. You were salty as hell because you wanted to do weird non-combat screwing around. I am glad you finally realize the nature of this game.

You must have turned your back on the I.S. at some point because it is hard to have a bad game in the Artic Cheetah.

I think I spent as much as I won't just getting my IS mechs back up to proper builds... oh well I'll farm with my Sliphner to make some more cbills.

So averaging 200 dmg is not so bad? Yeah, you can see why I'm not liking playing this event......

It has been decidedly a better experience with less clan mechs on the days I did drop during the event. I hope they do go through with the alpha changes.

I've taken to asking how many try-hards are piloting meta-builds in order to pad their stats against unskilled champions.
The ones who get salty are for the most part piloting clan mechs... maybe there's a correlation...

A event like this would have been fun. I think the first time they did clan on clan, after the event system launched, it was nothing but a stat sheet. It did not not actually just q those two clans against each other. Now if they set up a fp event like this, and actually qed those factions against each other. This would be meaningful and a enjoyable event.

As for qp keep it mixed faction wise. Its good for learning about all the weaknesses and strengths of all the mechs out there.

Everyone has bad games. But if you're averaging 200 dmg per game in T1 there are certainly some issues. And playing stock/near stock crap mechs doesn't help. I do great with my HBKs, my WLFs and my WHMs, but put me in a stock Vindi or a Stalker and I'm gonna have crap games too. It takes a very good player to have good games in some of these chassis.

If the person I replied to is derping around in a T5 account, good for him. But in T1 it's kinda sad. It'd be better if they'd just fix the ranking system and MM, but until that point, I'd like to see T1 players at least making an effort to contribute. And I'd certainly like PGI to refrain from rewarding people for playing garbage mechs to try and boost interest in the MWOWC WTF mode this year.

I dunno, I finished pretty much every mech in one game except some of the exceptionally weak ones, even the ones I took out on trial mechs were mostly 400-600 damage games. The banshee I actually bought and I honestly feel like its 60 point alpha on a 3s cooldown is pretty passable even if I were to take it out to try to murder the usual clan assaults due to the extremely low necessary face time to land the full alpha. What I've noticed though is that encounters have been a lot shorter ranges as a result of the shift toward IS mechs for the event, and that has brought a lot of lights and brawlers back out that can hardly be fielded in the current meta, and THAT is what I've been enjoying.
