Are we whining about this now? The Streaks always come out when a light mech is released. It was probably far worse when the Pirahna came out because it instantly got a reputation as walking MG death.

Streaks are fine, they highly disadvantage themselves against other mechs and all you have to do is avoid them and use buildings to do hit and run if there are no UAVs up.

Ok, if you think this as a "playstyle" problem think about this: how would you like a weapon system that could 1-2 shot your heavy or assault mech? Would it be fun for you?

And again: it doesn't matter if the streak crow isn't attacking the bigger targets because it basically negates all enemy lights.

Most of my gameplay is in a medium, but regardless yea, you can get 2 shotted fairly easy in this game. I thought the MC MKII and Annihilator made this abundantly clear for everyone of all weight classes?

@Op, you do know that getting a lock requires holding the reticule in the little red box right? You do understand that holding a crosshair on a box is in fact what we are doing when we're shooting lasers, right?

All streaks do is give us a larger box and require a longer hold time. The core concept is the same. Maybe don't manouver your light in such a way as to get shot so much? Try using 'R' to target mechs and stay away from streakers. Outside 400m should be fine.

Use 'B' to check the Battlemap. Run from cover to cover, don't move in straight lines.

If machine gun lights are all you're capable of piloting, then you only have yourself to blame when people bring streaks to counter you.

If you use non-MG lights, then I'm sorry for your loss.

Difference is lasers don't follow a target with zero input from a player....

Having said that there is no issue with streaks in regards to light mechs. If you are getting killed by streaks in a light you positioned poorly.

I basically moved from lights to fast mediums. Streaks will go away again in a few weeks but the atm spam is here to stay. Atms love to hit legs on light mechs.

Here is the thing: Target Lock Command wheel . WIth this, and a fast Crow and 1 other Light Hunter, it is effectcviely possible to corner you . And THAT has nothing to do with getting caught out of position .

I am wondering about the "plethora of skilled Light Pilots" you speak about . Are they playing MW:O ?

Streak Crows have been a matter of concern/complaint for years already, simply because them being that fast and being able to boat that many SSRMS effectively can nullify a lot of Light 'Mechs . It is not really about "my playstyle got countered"....its more about "my playstyle is already difficult enough, as if it wasnt already easy enough to kill me. StreakCrows are the Cherry on Top."

The target lock command wheel thing is actually ridiculous, I definitely agree there. I would argue that it ought to be nerfed a bit, maybe based on a few factors favourable to Light 'Mechs. That's not necessarily a streak boating problem though, someone in streaks is only going to be good at hunting Lights afterall.

It is funny to see that the "streaks are fine" crowd has a very low number of matches played in lights across the last seasons. Coincidence?

Ok, I take a streak crow, you take a mech of your choice. You should beat me easily since there is no issue at all

When and where?

Any good light pilot will use target data to decide what mech is easy prey and isn't. I'm a light pilot and even I boat streaks on missile mechs during events. I went flea hunting yesterday and was disappointed in so little fleas encountered in my A1 streak boat.

I love dual heavy gauss smashing lights. I especially love it when they jump jet into the air because I wait for them to land and there is that slight pause before they can move. Light pilots in modern MWO are especially spoiled. For starters, they can`t fall down like they could before. Running around any other mech was very dangerous. If you fell down, you were more than likely dead. Now they can rub on and through you practically.

Do you actually run out and look up everyone that disagrees with you on Jarl's? That is like the 3rd one.

Don't fight streak boats is the point. In a light you'd better be looking at loadouts on everything you plan to attack and everything in the vicinity of anything you plan to attack. If there's a streak boat lurking, go somewhere else. I don't pilot lights much, but I almost never die to streaks when I do.

Again an expert on lights with 29 matches in light mechs for the last 5 seasons (probably more, I didn't bother to check further). Maybe you should play more lights when it is so easy for them to kill assaults and lrm boaths with impunity *chuckle*

Sounds like a pro [NaCI] pilot alright! Jokes aside, I dont actually play assault, prefer mediums.

I wouldn't mind taking on a streak mech in my light in a 1v1. I'll take on this challenge.

This may sound counter intuitive, but the best way to take a hit from from Streaks is to face-tank it. When you torso twist away from the shot you concentrate all the missiles on 2 or 3 components. When you face the hit with all your components, the damage spreads more evenly.

Of course if you can avoid getting hit altogether, that's preferable. Radar Deprivation helps a lot in that regard.
