Dont run to the enemy base in the first minutes,
on alpine (both sides) or crimson (C4) you can just wait the first minutes in a streakboat at your base,
nearly allways there will be a light or two comming to you.

i tried building a couple is streak boats but they ended up being utter garbage. they are too heavy so you just cant afford to boat a whole lot of tubes like you can on the clan side, you end up with a mech that is too slow to chase lights and is streaks has too short a range to hit them. those launchers are a waste of cbills. streaks are a case of trying to do things the tt way and failing hard. just do standard lerm type homing with no arc. do away with bone homing.

Bushwacker with 4x streak2 in chainfire and some lasers is fun, not the best, but fun.
You can also take on some bigger mechs, because you are faster, have heavy armor and the chainfiring missiles are irritating every 0,5 seconds. But you need time to kill ....

Also the A1 is fun for this, 2x alrm15 and 4x streak 2 and does the same with less speed but more damage to other mechs with lrms, and if you stay a little back, the streaks are also ok against heavier mechs at the end of the fight because opend sections.

This are the only two is streak mechs i find that are fun.

If you're playing MWO and not expecting to get taken down by bad luck or misfortune once in a while, then thats on you. Streak boats are not a new thing, so if you just spent a hyperbolic weeks/months learning how to play as a light space robot effectively then you would have also learned that part of the trade as well.

Next you'll feel some kind of personal offense when a "window licker who has trouble breathing" manages to pull off a gauss headshot. Posted Image

Amusing. Please tell that to the avide heavy and assault players when they tunnel-vision and get cored by a light mech from behind. Because those complains were the reasons for a plethora of nerfs.

Secondly, putting a lock-on weapon and a lucky headshot on one level disqualifies you completely. Why do you want to bait him? Do you like to troll?

DEAR PGI please BUFF all Streaks to be just as effective against Assaults and Heavy mechs as they are against light mechs. Clearly Streaks are not performing as you would expect as a single weapon system ONLY being effective against a single weight class would make you appear to be biased against that one weight class.

CLEARLY that cannot be the case as you have never before shown any bias towards the light mech class before with the resizing and repeated nerfs to specific chassis and weapons they use. So show streaks some LOVE and let EVERYONE enjoy them as much as lights.

oh my... an actual weapons against lights.

if only one could press "r" and avoid streakers... ;)

streaks are just fine - YOU need to learn how to handle them.
-coming from someone running his pir, wolfy, urbie, panther, commando, spider and so on half of the qp-matches, having the most fun in lights. and I'm bad in them ;)
it's literally just pressing that "r" and/or spotting a target, with a tiny amount of 'using brains'.

takes no miraculous skills - a 6-8year old can do that. if you can't and insist of still playing lights - that triple-ams-kitfox is your new lord and savior. streaks? never heard of those.. ;)

Claiming a direct causality for perceived nerfs, ESPECIALLY when we are talking PGI logic, is pretty silly.

Do I think lights are an inherently disadvantaged class for most pilots in MWO? Sure.
Are there amazing light pilots with insane KDRs the past few seasons who post on these forums? Yep.
Does whining about a hard counter to your play style mean a class of weapons that is already niche needs a nerf? Nope.

You yourself acknowledge lights can run rampant and core out heavy/assault mechs who are unable to effectively turn and counter due to low mobility, position, and situational awareness. And yet without any sense irony, you seem to be oblivious to the fact that the way to avoid the streak boats you are whining about is to use your high mobility, position, and situational awareness.

Weird, its like whats good for the goose isnt good for the gander in your idea of MWO and fun.

What is this "target locked command wheel" that everyone keeps talking about?

Anyways with 3 AMS streak attacks can be brought to near zero.

In fact missiles i the only weapon that has such counter, there are no AMS equivalents to either Lasers or Ballistics (A point why I want the reactive/reflective armor of MW4 reintroduced)

Nice.

How far can you lock on a streakboat without ecm and read his loadout?
How far is his range?
How fast can you turn and run away?

I meet lights with my crow,
some i only see once at the beginning, out of streak- & laserrange (never go full ******, take at least some lasers), and maybe at the end of the match,
some come straigh to me and try to fight,
some go for my allys and get tunnelvision and dont react to me,
and some come with their friends, sometimes all together, but also one after another.

In this examples are only 2 of 5 are not "windowlicking",
if you would have learned to play lights,
you would not cry about streaks like a "windowlicker",
but play like the two who knows to play lights.

SSRM forever!

People running lag shields or just the sheer unresponsiveness of the latency correction PGI has in place can mean the especially fast light mechs being near invulnerable to laser/ballistic fire; something that many light pilots take advantage of and although hardly a sporting way to play, doesn't conflict with any kind of EULA etc.

So, why shouldn't people use SSRM to counter this advantage? Seriously, if the light pilot is taking advantage of bad code and high latency, then it's only fair for the defending pilot to use something that cancels this out.

Last night I emptied 6000 rounds into a Flea that barely strayed from a straight line, but by the time I ran out of ammo (and was killed by the usual lrm/atm crap) had only managed to wrack up 62 damage! Took a streak boat out afterwards and the Flea went down after 64 missile hits (just love random hits but hey, it's a hit).

The Flea had plenty of opportunity to run away, but chose to try and keep the code/latency shield up, so not my fault they died . . . :)

I have been running around like the idiot unskilled light pilot that I am in my lil' flea and really haven't noticed much of a problem with being streaked. Sure I've seen an uptick in more anti-light builds but that has to be expected if there is going to be a uptick in lights running around given the release and event.

Also my mind might be fuzzy but wasn't it just like a week ago we had some discussion in threads about how meh streaks are?

OP, you need to climb off your cross, build a bridge, and get over it.

Sorry you don't have EVERYTHING going for you perfectly in this game, and that you don't get to play a superior unkillable machine without any checks or balances.

Whelp.

Huh. And in all those months you never learned to identify and avoid Streak boats? What exactly did all this "learning" entail?

Everything?
Lights have little going for them. Being harder to hit is one of the few things they do have and streaks ignore that by being basically auto-aim. Streaks could be completely removed from the game and lights still wouldn't be that great. They would still be killable by any other weapon, you would just need steadier aim.
Note the op mentioned other counters but seems to only ask for something to be done about streaks, not every other weapon.

I love it when such great comments come from people with 25 matches in a light mech in 3 seasons.Comedy gold
