Like many others speculating what this means,..I'm oddly optimistic and hoping to give PGI money over the next several months due to potential upcoming mech packs such as...

Ostroc
Ostsol
Crusader
Charger (realize this one didn't appear to be affected by the HG thing - but stll want to see it in game)

and perhaps my first clan pack if it was the

Rifleman IIc
Warhammr IIc
Griffin IIc
Shadow Hawk IIc
Phoenix Hawk IIc

The Incubus and Vulcan were tempting, but I had my fingers crossed for a resolution in PGI's favor.

Sounds positive one way or the other.
I hope that by 'Classic Designs' that does mean we can see mechs like the Crusader and more now.

The Charger is seen as an example of abject failure in BattleMech design.... 5 small lasers anyone?

People want weird mechs or certain mechs. Id like a Hollander, even tho I know how bad it would be since you normally see me running a raven with Gauss and 2 tons of ammo.

Please don't confuse fluff/ lore with actual gaming, be it TT or MWO. We have a MechLab after all. And in a TT game set in 3025, the Charger is not a pure joke either since you can, well, charge and also kick or punch the enemy. And some of its variants - it has a lot good variants - are more than capable.

Sure there are better assaults out there, but the Charger would be ok in MWO, and nowhere near as bad as the IS MW:4-originals.

They would be great, especially considering we do not have a jump capable 20t Mech (and the Flea did nothing to provide one).

Nah, people just don't think about what they want. That's how we got the Thanatos, although there would have been Mechs doing pretty much the same with much better geometry. But somehow people were still surprised that a geometry resembling two bricks on legs is not what you want in MWO, despite JJ, ECM and armour quirks...

It's not about meta or comp or anything, it's all about fun. If a Mech is too bad one just cannot enjoy it in game, and that is precisely why the poll-champions, the so-called 'fan-favourites' like the Uziel all but vanished from MWO. Instead of "I know this Mech, and I don't care about anything else" we need more "I don't know this Mech, but it might by fun to play".

I enjoy my Thantos and don't regret buying them. Yes their hit boxs are nothing to write home about, but if you skill them in the survival tree and twist like a mad man. They can do so good work in them. Not every mech needs to be Xl safe to be a good addition to the game.

Wasp and stinger definately sense I cant have quads, protomechs, battle armor....tanks....anything outlandish like that. Only problem is no matter what we get, it will have PGIs patented pay-now-play-in-six-months strategy. ZZZzzzZZzz.

Go play a gauss urbie for twenty games, then come back and tell me that a mech that can only do that but with worse armor and mobility is a good idea.

-edit or better yet, make a Gauss firestarter.

Hollander would actually have better mobility because its 5 ton advantage lets it pack a bigger engine with that Gauss Rifle (Urbie has to go super duper slow for it), but in general yeah the Holly would suck in MWO unless it received godlike levels of quirking.

Also the best IS light for Gauss right now is probably either a Raven (high mount) or Panther 10P (quirks). Both have it in the arm so you don't lose your precious IS XL too quickly. Across both factions the "best" Gauss light is the Adder though (can actually have some backup lasers with the Gauss and not be ultra slow like the Cougar).

Yes, I acknowledged the speed bit with the firesarter, but I was thinking of the great torso twist and the armor quirks to keep the urblander alive.

I got a seventy in stash waiting to be spent on the ultimate sting/wasp mechs depending on how close to the veritech/robotech fighters they can keep or pay homage to. If they get a transformation mode via a masic / toggle for a short acceleration, turning, mobility, reverse and jj burn time it's a guaranteed but from me.

In theory I would really love a Whammy IIC. However the variants listed on Sarna are pretty unappealing and likely would PGI would go off of. Arm ballistics and srms or atm's? No thank you.

To do the mech the justice it deserves in this game it would need a Black Widow version and a Clan 6R (gauss Whammy is one of the most beautiful mechs in game).

The Rifleman IIC however is a no go because of how ridiculous this community is, and how much grief would be had over the exclusion of the ridiculous hat.

With the way they are modelling mechs recently I'd rather they not bring any classics into the game, Imagine what a pig's ear they'd make of the Crusader right now.

No thanks.
