Scarcastic: "They didn't. They reached a settlement"

Yeah, so did Hasbro with HG... yet we consider that Hasbro bitchsmacking them.

So let's say it again... PGI put HG in their place, they showed they would not back down, and even if it came to them reaching a settlement, it means Battletech and Mechwarrior are safe from HG's ******** for the forseeable future.

So, nitpick all you like, but PGI laid the smackdown on HG.

It wasn't as anticlimactic as that. Russ is just being magnanimous in victory when he's been making coy statements about it.

Dismissal with prejudice. There's no way HG would have let this go so easily when they've been effectively patent trolling for settlements - and I can't imagine PGI having enough cash sitting around to convince HG to abandon their golden calf. This was a huge win.

I'll praise PGI for kicking HG in the goolies in a professional and robust manner :)

Everyone hates lrms and arti. When you start getting hit by those you dont need an explanation as to why is it so.

I really think only one thing that PGI really needs to be thanked for..

Thank you for keeping MWO absolutely Free to Play.

Harmony Gold got paid. That isn't a smackdown, that was the result that they wanted form the beginning. Drag it out for as long as possible and hope that the target of their lawsuit gives up and settles when it becomes inconvenient. You know, like with HS settling with HG right before the release of their game. PGI made this settlement with MW5 in mind.

On the bright side I believe that HG loses these rights next year anyways. It would be funny in the odd sort of way if they end up delaying the game to 2019 anyways.

I've been playing this game for 6 years and still come back to it. Can't say the same for any moba or fps. PGI did do a lot right.

1. Russ risked everything to get the mechwarrior license and make a game. That takes a sack.
2. Hiring Alex to make mechs.
3. The game is FUN.
4. Playing lights is actually fun and competitive. They're not fodder in mwo. All the classes have their place. This alone is a big achievement.
5. The cockpits are labors of love. Whoever does those does a great job.

As things go, I prefer to play mwo over overwatch or lol or any other 'good' game. MWO is more fun. This is the only game that stays forever installed. I take breaks and enjoy other stuff, but for a 15 minute break or a 2 hour mech sesh, mwo hits the spot. There's stuff I don't like in FP and there's a lot of stuff I'd like to change, but this is my favorite multiplayer game of the past six years so... favorite multiplayer game of the decade? It must be.

Don't see how this was off topic but meh.

Guess it should have been a "blame PGI" thread instead.

Maybe because it feels like it's got heavy sarcasm in it? (Don't know if you meant it that way or not, but it seemed sarcastic.)

Satire really. It is a bit irritating when the forums are infested with alot of blame rather than focusing on the positives.

Its like watching the news, where it's all bad news and maybe one or two positive stories, and the weather. Bad news sells.

In any event; this thread was meant to poke fun at people who come here to gripe non stop.

Old MW player here, but I consider myself a MWO rookie... Thanks PGI for maintaining MWO alive.

I like very much what they are doing with free gifts and weekly challenges. But they need to announce them with time, for heave's sake!!!

I know and I like that they are centered in maintain it alive developing new mechs and such for sales. But, pretty please, give more content thinking for the future... PVE, maybeee?? Posted Image

Dispite all my bitching I still play this game because at the end of the day I find it fun and in that fundamental goal of making a video game PGI succeeded

Thank you PGI for the excellent mech models that look way better than previous versions of the mechs.

Also good call co-operating with harebrained schemes rather than seeing them as a threat. I'm glad you've learnt your lesson (at least I hope)

Solaris City is a fun counter vote to the lrm boats thanks for leveling the playing field on that one.

And admittedly I may be out of the know on this one but thanks PGI for staying away from politics, this game is just that a game. (this last point may be revoked retroactively >:V)

This game had Urbie added - witch regardless of other things equates to success. Never forget about this Russ and Paul!

Praised be PGI!

Besides some let-downs (CW, PGI, CW!), PGI

1. took on HG successfully
2. made MW:O a fun game that still gets me after 6 years (even population numbers may be dwindling)
3. will make MW 5 great (I am hyped af)
4. took on HG successfully.

Praised be PGI!
