Hello all,

I haven’t played in a couple of weeks and probably won’t for a few more (it’s summer, so I go play outside), anyway, at my tier level, I’m usually killed because I screwed up, or my opponent(s) were just better players, regardless of the tech, so I’m kind of scratching my head at the proposed changes to Clan lasers. I mostly drop in solo quick play, maybe it’s different in higher tiers and/or fp/group play.

I'm also very pleased with the changes, which I felt were needed.


It seems imbalanced that, in general, you can't disable clan mechs as effectively as you can IS mechs. You can blow the main armament off a clan mech, but they will usually still have lasers left on other parts of the mechs that will be able to do significant damage to you. This disproportionately limits your options when facing clan mechs in general.

Surely it has nothing to do with the lack of critical thought put into these changes, and how it affects the non-issues far more than the actual "issues"


The Cute Fox gets hit a lot harder than the Deathstrike, for example.
Yes, that scary, scary robot has ALL of its weapons gimped, while the Deahstrike gets to fire 3 ERLLs along with its 2 Gauss, as a change

With the "recoil" mechanic I might just double down and go 6 ERLL and more DHS until the masses complain about "boating"

Yeah, I'd avoid them just because the mechanic is unfun.

Ugh. At this point they need to make Pulse and ER lasers of small, medium and large variety identical in stats, then go from there. Hell, at this point I'd say do the same for erppcs. At least they can make the faction unique energy (is standard lasers and ppc varients vs clan micro and heavy lasers) different and balanced somewhat without breaking the non OP builds and chassis.


What was that saying? For [something], core rule ignore.
