Pretty much exactly what I feared would happened - MWO made the Champion look 'cool.' Or cooler than it was, anyway. Alex's design is a fairly predictable result of the MWO unified aesthetic, and I don't like it.

I'll admit that it's not quite as bad as I thought it would turn out, but still - I prefer my Champions goofy.

It looks like an ebon Jaguar had some fun with a marauder. I like the look but the mech is terrible.

In my humble opinion, the Champion is one of the ugliest mechs in existence...

That's not Alex's fault.. it was ugly in earlier artwork too..

I guess I don't like the concept of an airplane with arms and legs..

TBH quite honest..I don't lose much sleep worrying what you or pretty much anyone else "expect" of me. I used to expect people to demonstrate common courtesy, common sense, etc. Look where that has gotten me.

And hey, if the OP is going to be overly hyperbolic, why shouldn't I?

After all, the OP obviously knows how it should be done. Groovy. Show us how it's done, senpai. Or what.. are people only allowed to make over the top statements when you agree with them?

Yeah as a fan of the original, the MWO Champion arms are not great. Obviously made the "lower" arm bigger in order to put a bunch of weapon mounts in there but now it just looks out of proportion

The original was firmly in the "I wonder if even Alex can salvage this one?" category.

I really quite like the MWO concept art. Kind of in that "weird in a cool way" category with the Crab and such.

The Champion is looking good! I like the design more than I thought I would considering they stuck very closely to the original artwork.

Don't get me wrong, I always liked the Champion, but there was things I thought were odd and could have been changed/updated. Despite staying very close to the original concept, I am now glad nothing was altered. It looks good.

Given what was handed to him, Alex did a great job. He can be DEPENDED ON to do so. Do I like it? Not a snowballs chance in hell.

first rule of battletech lore art...never rely on any sense of consistency! But I think it would be a cool idea, regardless.

pretty much the truth. I hate the RoboChimp to this day. And Samus. Are they miles better than the raw, smoldering poo they were based on, yet still recognizable for that they are supposed to be? Then likely, without a top down reinvention, it's about as good as we can ask for.

Understandable. People say the same about the Jenner, yet the Jenner IIC with it's "I'm a generic chickenwalker" legs is the one that bugs me. I do wonder if the legs had some bend and dip if it would be less odd looking, though? (and smaller arm pylons)

Looks awful, as its supposed to haha. I think he did a pretty great job considering the source material.

Those arms are hilarious though. Can't wait to see how well they shield once the game model is out.

I always thought the Champion was ugly and uninteresting. Alex made it ugly and interesting.

Looks like a War Robot. Only needs the jumping ability.

Hey you got anything POSITIVE to contribute to this? Instead of bashing them, you should be like "Hey, I noticed how the art isnt what it used to be, so I took the pleasure of making my own for you. What do you think of X?" ?? Where is your contribution? I don't see anything? Thats right, I don't, because its much easier to ***** about their work instead. Now go sit in the corner and think about what you have done. You play a game for free. You have a choice to pay for this. They are not forcing you to buy this. Stop being so self entitled. People like you are what is wrong with these days. You expect these hard working people to drop what they're doing and fix something to meet your expectations? Go do it yourself.
