So initially PGIs planning made some sense... but its not just about the mech, sometimes their are just flat out better players than you. These guys are in a league of their own and you, the casual player, don't stand a chance.

So why don't we reorganize Solaris similar to how Formula Racing or Baseball does it... you have to rise to the top before you can move to the next league Tier?

Have shorter seasons and more divisions... I'd be happy with mech divisions based on just tonnage and whether its IS or Clan mechs...so let's say 8 Divisions to start with. Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault x 2 (Clan or IS) People will figure the meta anyway so it doesn't matter.

Then the guys that play a lot and win a lot can rise to the Pros and the rest of us can have fun in the Amateur league or maybe have 3... Amateur, Semi-Pro, Pro

What say you trash talking, rarely constructive forum gods?

More divisions will only mean longer wait time. SSR system already pair people based on their wins.

Yes but you aren't really able to rise up in the ranks with the current system - the top spots will always be dominated by the top players who spend a lot of time on the game. Psychologically it would be more satisfying to work your way up through leagues or divisions.

The long wait times are because Solaris isn't engaging enough people to play it.... if your SSR goes up slightly that's not very exciting. Solaris needs a re-design big-time because the community isn't supporting it.

That's literally the point.

It doesnt matter, They dont know how to sort pilots anyway we have seen this with their tier system already and im sure they dont know how to use ELO correctly.

Also, what is a PRO? Only like 2 pro teams in this whole game and that would be those that have one money by definition.

You could call it whatever you like... the "Pros" are playing for C-Bills anyway... in game money... its a fantasy league after all

I'm just saying you could have Tiers for the players and separate rankings and make the "seasons" short like 1 month. At end of the month the top players move up into the next bracket... the lowest ones that season get demoted etc.

Sort of like baseball or auto racing, boxing, etc.

Not true. I have seen what players like Vorteex accomplish with a Spider.

Solaris isn't "engaging enough" because it's even more e-sports than the standard game, which is the entirely opposite direction that most of this community wanted the game to go. Russ had this e-sports vision and it flopped, but instead of fixing his game he doubled down. We've been saying from the beginning that if we're going to be stuck with a simple death match that we should at least get a decent match maker and ranking system. But what did we get? PSR which doesn't represent performance, but experience..... I honestly can't think of a developer more out of touch with their base than PGI.

But remember, the thing PGI does best is communicate with its players.

Tried playing solaris yesterday, didn't even cared for which division. Gave up after 20 minutes, was literally the only one in queue.

On that note, 4 vs 4 on PTS is actually really fun. Maybe that would be an addition to solaris people would like?

Wow. When they announced Solaris I knew it would be a failure, but I had no idea it would fail this badly so fast. That's pathetic. Yet another perfect example of them being completely out of touch with their players, and of Russ stubbornly pushing this game down the e-sports path when that's literally the last thing this community has asked for.

There are, or were, plenty of players who want(ed) to play S7. The problem is that half the fight is won by 'Mech selection alone. With this many divisions and so many 'Mechs spread out, to most players coming up with a winning build is more or less unfathomable, assuming they even own a competitive chassis in the first place. For example, Im 1706 in d2 for literally no reason other than the fact that my chosen chassis sports the highest close range alpha potential of any 'Mech in that division without triggering ghost heat. I have seen exactly one other build like it in that division, and it was the one that sawed my Kodiak's legs off and inspired me to give it a go.

Which we all predicted and yet PGI blithely sailed on with it and won't do anything to 'fix' it.

Nah, don't need special divisions.. what Solaris needs.. is PLAYERS.

ELO handles the rest..
