What's Wrong With Faction Play?

Active problems include potatos that don't fill their drop decks to within a few tons of maximum, and they don't drop heaviest first, and they bring spastic LRM builds.

These players are indeed a huge problem. I've seen players do 200-400 damage consistently over 4 mechs, A player like that is literally worthless, and might as well not even exist. It's like having a disconnect that moves around the map on auto pilot. Although, if the mode was more rewarding and had better gameplay, we would be able to field full 12 man premades, but getting into a group of 12 and dropping against another group of 12 is extremely rare since few people play this game mode anyway. If the map had some meaning, There were more faction play specific maps and modes, and there were actual decent rewards for playing FP, then it would be more popular I think.

Unfortunately I missed Phases 1-3.... I quit MWO in 2013 after the clans were announced (I originally bought the founders pack on the promise of Faction Warfare, and when they announced clans instead of actually working on that I said to hell with this and left). I came back in December to see what's changed, and found FP pretty fun, but still nowhere near what I actually wanted.

Do I want to play FP? Yes, for sure.
Can I do that ? No, definitely. Only if there are fully pugs in IS and we go as unit. Unit vs unit makes that all just sick IS domination. Anigilators + assassins, all time all same. That sucks.
if PGI is so sure they do right - please guys, make a video stream of game how you will fight with Clan mechs against normal IS unit. That should be fine and quite depressive.

Yes, because walking into Mad Cat II-B's as Inner Sphere is much better... honestly siege mode is just plain imbalanced on either side, the defending team has a massive advantage.

When to this advantage is added IS over armor and over power.... That becomes a total mess. Even in skirmish FP...
Just look in war log...

That's false. When pushing into IS it is almost suicidal if they know which gate you are coming from. Then the enemy would stack assaults near a certain chokepoint so that you cannot push into the base without coming into close range with them and fighting on their terms. IS has too much hitpoints such that even if you form a good firing line with MCII-Bs you take a pretty long time to chew through them, and the time it takes allows IS to get in close and beat you up. Or if they are running UAC30 ANHs they will just outlast you. There's a reason why some Clan loyalist units defected to IS and it is not because new tech is more interesting; they are tired of being on the losing end when it comes to tech sides.

But Faction play is kind of always around, shinig with big cbills prizes and mechbays. But when you finally get there after half an hour wait..
We Murderstomp-We Murderstomped-Don't play mechs you like-metabuilds or death-Murderstomp. And everyone hate each other. LIke as much as i HATE YOU MY TEAMMATES WHY CAN"T YOU PLAY AS YOU PLAY IN QUCKPLAY.
So, I wish there could be some tonnage delegation, or borrowing pre-match - like give me extended decks plus some free tons pool, so i will not feel like an *******/get punished, fielding what i like to field. And mechs from IS and Clans fighting on the each side. If im a mercenary, why can't i use the opposition's mechs?
I hope PGI will do something with Faction. Its already dead anyway, why not rework it completely.

Well FP is where you bring your "A" game. If youre bringing a mech built for a "V" game then youre doing it wrong. Want to be casual? Stick to QP. If you wanna give FP a serious look you need to talk to the guys that FP on the regular. So they can guide you in builds and mechs to get started with.

I'd rather have a ghost drop than drop against a unit (guess which) that brings SSRMs to a faction play Incursion match and tries to win via base smash. It's so intelligent that I almost pity them.

You can, you just gotta finesse it. So, what you do is you queue for CW, and then you have your Unit leader switch allegiances. I managed to intrude upon a Davion v Steiner battle with a full Clan drop deck back before they went to one bucket via this method. Be warned, it's not exactly spammable.
