and lost again, I was the odd one on the team . .. I didn't bring lrms

Monday European Prime time is a good slot for drops. There's a few units that have their dropnights then.

A solo player trying to play in the Unit/Group centric queue at nearly midnight is having a hard time finding a drop?

depending where one's time zone they are in, way past midnight and many hours before.

I was surprised I got 3 matches solo dropping between 1900-2100, which is the same timezone as the server
not surprised no one on Clan side was attempting to form a group, TS channel hopping, on those running as Clan, just shows that no one was playing clan, saw plenty of IS.
There was a better chance getting a match started , with running the clan Alt.
Seems everyone just wants to run on a one sided queue.

Other options for that solo player is to play few QP matches and commit suicide or play solaris and get bored of mashed potatoes.
There really is not that many players available to group up to play FW without opening LFG and taking 300dmg superstars to fill your team. Results are the same as solo dropping so why go through the hassle?

There are often plenty of FP groups dropping, you just gotta look for them in teamspeak. I know last night there was a BCMC/Evil group dropping clans, a 10D group dropping clans (not a full 12 man, but like 6 of them), and on inner sphere there was a 10D group, an ISMO group, a G-NX group, and I think an MS group? Plenty of actual groups to join. Just gotta go find them.

Sure during the full day, and if you can drop during NA hours. But if you have only limited time to play it's possible that during those few hours its a ghost town.

Well ghost n ghost, u can get matches but cover your *** with most of the chumps u gonna find.
