I'm not worried too much about the laser nerfs; if and when they go through it's just a matter of finding a new build you like. For the purpose of the Vapor Eagle I think regardless of how the laser nerfs play out the Standard Pack looks very solid.
The VGL-1 has 4 ballistic, 4 energy, and 2 missile hardpoints giving it a plethora of build options that can easily work around any laser nerfs. The VGL-2 has 5 ballistic and 2 energy making it likely that the energy weapons won't be the main damage dealers. For the VGL-3 with its 3 missile and 4 energy hardpoints I'm seeing missiles as the main damage dealers with laser pinpoint damage to finish the job.
The VGL-4 is the only variant leaning heavily on the energy hardpoints, and that's in the reinforcements which you can add later if the laser changes or lack of changes are to your liking.
I've already ordered the standard pack as I am very comfortable playing medium mechs and this one looks promising.

Good thing the mech can equip ballistics and missiles too, and good thing Clan ballistics and missiles are much lighter than that of IS.

True, using the default motor makes for a limited build. Personally, a 330 (97.2 kph) rated engine is overkill for this sort of loadout. Going down to a 300 (88 kph) and even a 280 (82.5 kph) makes more sense and frees up an additional 3 or 4.5 tons, respectively. It's still pretty tight in a 55 tonner but it's a hell of an alpha.

That will go what like 64.8? Or at most 72? At any rate a wheee bit slow
Had to look it up, 75 kph with a 255.

75 kph without speed tweak skill nodes.

A 75 KPH mech with that loadout is Certainly Workable, but honestly at that point, not particularly unique, IMO. That loadout easily fits into an Orion, with a massive 350 engine, plus a lot more heatsinks, ammo, and even a TC/AMS if you so desire. The durability of that chassis remains to be seen, but i'd bet on that orion having superior armor quirks too. Maybe that single jump jet makes it feel entirely different, but for now, I'm looking at the faster options for it, rather than the slower ones, which are already well covered by all the 81 KPH mechs out there.
(If I'm looking for a similar, more unique build for it, I'd try it more like a Boomcrow - Running with 3, or even 4 non-artemis SRM6s, LBX20, and the ability to run 100+ with Speed tweak should absolutely shred people.)
I will say this though- that chassis is the first one in a while that I'm interested in purchasing. Pretty much any clan mech that can mount a 300-325 class engine, and endo/ferro should have a lot of pretty potent options, and this one hits a sweet spot in the tonnage range for me..

Good. The Blanner makes for an expensive paperweight, that’s about it. Finally we get Vapes.

Orion is 75 tons, which matters in GQ and FP.
