So comparing to the newer gen mechs like Incubus and Vapor Eagle, if you look back on the older mechs like Atlases, Banshees, and etc, clearly, there is a stylistic differences,

The obvious reason being BTech is the biggest hodge podge of anime stealing ever, thus resulting in conflicting styles of every possible imaginations.

But let's assume... there's a reasonable lore behind it. Say after the Clan invasion, both sides are learning from each other. Clans learned to adopt the more rugged humanoid designs, but put a sleek spin on it, resulting in Incubus and Vapor Eagle. So it's logical for the IS to also learn from the Clans and starting updating their models as well.

Which gets me to my main point. If we can accept this train of thought, and look back on how older gen of IS mechs are just bulky and outdated, it might be worthwhile for PGI to go back and update older models. Basically, they will be counted as half a new mech release.

So instead of 15 dollars (light) standard pack for example, you will buy 7 dollars IF you own the previous packs for upgrades to the new models. Obviously, old models will still stay and won't impact your game if you do, but the 7 dollars is an upgrade to newer model.

You can still purchase the new model as standalone price for 15 dollars if you don't previously have them.

And if you have scatter chasis (meaning, not a full pack but from CBill purchases and such), you can choose to upgrade them for MCs.

This will bring in another revenue stream for PGI. Old timers that don't care about cosmetic upgrades can stay put and not spend. The art style will be updated in accordance with the new gen mechs.

Like, we go back and update maps all the time, but the fixture (in this case, battlemechs) stay 2014? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think it's worthwhile to introduce this.

There's several advantages aside from revenue stream on part of PGI as well. 1. It's potentially cheaper to update models than to create new models. 2. You further away from the original concept art, which in terms move you further away from HG lawsuit territory (though this might have been resolved, but who knows) as your model is truly your own interpretation. 3. It's something new to excite the fan base.

-------

In addendum to the concept, I say PGI can also released the updated "old" maps back in circulation. A lot of us hipsters came after the Clan invasion and never played those wine factory maps (whatever they are called). We missed Old Frozen City, Old Terra Therma, and etc. It's minimal work to update, and you will instantly increase map pool by 30-40% to keep things fresh.

Yes to bringing back old maps. No to redoing mech models unless it's a distinct variant/model(like the Atlas II) with different art.

Why? This is nothing new. Think of Beast Wars that go several gens of changes to Beast Machines. Same Monkey Boss, 5 different models.

Bringing back the old maps would be great. I wouldn't spend a penny re-buying all my old mechs just because pgi decided they needed or did an visual upgrade or whatever to them. I already bought them either with real money or in game money period. Given how much pgi screws up mechs like the Catapults' two and a half year battle to remove the last visual update al la dynamic geometry resulting in the infamous VCR ears I'd Hate to see the results done to all the older mechs. Or the unmentioned changes to mechs' camo or heroes' camo like the Jester's pattern of its back eyes.

If there is anything that would get me to instantly put down $70 which is the current price of an ultimate pack it would be the option to permanently undo the re-scale of all my light mechs and give them their pre-re-scale mobility and agility back. But I guess mechs like the Jenner continue to be OP and such.
