Anyone else thinks its really silly getting a bolt on for a mech you don't even own? Enjoy your Solaris 7 supply cache you cant use. Congrats ... i guess.

i think i dislike the fact that the bolt-ons fly off the moment someone looks at you funny more than the way the caches work.

I echo Varnas. Why go through the trouble of getting one bolt on if it just falls off the moment some one brushes your mech trying to pull a speed racer off spawn in other game modes? I don't think I've even seen a bolt on in qp. I don't play solaris either.

I've seen one I think so far in QP. The problem is they are expensive, you never get one for a 'Mech you use, and they are all atrociously ugly. Seriously, they look like they were designed by an unpaid intern who got a summer contract through some sort of government handout. Lulz.

Maybe we should call them "Fly Offs" instead of "Bolt Ons"

Still think bolt-ons should be like Cockpit items, one purchaced on any mech can be removed and put on another mech that is capable of equiping it.

Pain in the rear to design, you got to make it for each single mech. Sure, for most it'll work, but it's variable .

I still have not seen any really used in game. This is my opinion.
1. Players see no use in strapping one on
2. The bolt on items don't help you Mech so why use them
3. Most players are as far as I know of might be getting them at random, and still are o no ue, even I for looks.

A pack that has the effects of 1 or 2 extra heat sinks
A way to get a one time jump jet boost.
These would be useful.
Not hard to think outside the box (but the cat in the box refuses to look over the edge at what is scratching around on the outside).

I still want some optimus prime style exhaust pipes for my Atlas's, but I won't spend 750mc on them to only fit on one single mech.

They are damn sexy though.

Bolt on's the **** of this game, and one of the major reasons P.G.I lost me not only as a spending player, but a player all together.

want me spending money and playing they need to have a button in it to stop me seeing that crap

After pulling tusks for a Locust, and two “Uncommon” 1,000 CBills (Really? 1k CBills?) in a row, I’m not bothering opening Caches. Hoarding them to see if they update the contents. Maybe bring back the “Common” 50MC, and something besides 80-90% chance of it being a pair of tusks for the Lvl2 Solaris Cache.

Absolutely agreed. The way they work right now makes them next to pointless.

I got a couple bolt ons back when Solaris was new and I actually played it. No idea to what mech they belong to, lol, so I've never seen them.

Wait, is that not the case? Are they seriously charging 5 USD for a single cosmetic that falls off immediately *and* can't be used on any other mech? Jesus Christ PGI's business model is atrocious, I thought the 5 USD individual colors were bad.. why do people support this..

Since we now have bolts ons of chainsaws and all sorts of crazy stuff, I really don't see why we can't have an Axman Heavy Mech in the game, regardless of no melee skills.

Colors are at least global unlocks and on sale go for around $2.50 (or $1.25, depends on the color itself)

While true, that's hardly better. Charging people even 2.50 USD for a slightly different shade of green is still ridiculous. If they have to sell colors at all (something that seems awful in totality to me) they should be sold in multi-color packs for that 2.50 as a normal non-sale price.

But yes at least they aren't chassis-locked on top of it. MWO's buisness model really makes my skin crawl, free to play can and has been done so much better than this.

option no 1: make it RNGsus

option no 2: make people earn a currency and spent it on specific things.

we all know too many game designes love RNGsus,
