(yes I am shooting mechs that die on base)

or is it bugged>?

loving the format of this event. Always getting the same mode helps you tweak mech selection

We need an ally system instead of making people hopping factions every time there is an event.
Like in:
If the event is for specific factions, each unit of a different faction may choose to align itself with one of them.

Hello again, Everyone... Seems it's well past time for me to post an Update on my Event Review... :blush:

Anywho, I'll be increasing the Rating a bit, to...

6.5/10

...because PGI managed to avoid the whole "Game Mode RNG" Issue that I was concerned about. My original Rating was based on that problem from Past Events, and I am glad to see it's NOT the case anymore! :D

However, some problems have cropped up, and/or continue to persist. Combined, they're unfortunately also causing considerable damage to my Event Review Rating. Of note...
  • TOO LITTLE TIME is still being given to each Event Phase. We've had the chat with PGI over this issue before about AVOIDING a Time Allocation of less than 48 Hours for each Phase, in order to cover ALL the Time Zones around the world properly. Dropping it like an anchor to 24 Hours ACTIVELY PREVENTS many Time Zones from having the time they need to complete parts of an Event. It makes me wonder if PGI is only thinking about their own Time Zone when they set up the Time Allocations. I'm gonna tell you all right now, any Event Review Rating which I will give is going to be severely affected by this until it gets fixed.
  • PGI's assumption of always only needing 2 to 4 Matches per Event Phase is THOROUGHLY UNREALISTIC. It definitely DOES NOT cover the Casual-Class Players, and I've been picking up feedback on that from multiple sources already, both online and offline. As it stands right now, I'm also exceeding that point for the 2nd time out of the 3 Event Phases which have been running. They need to find a way to appropriately check their math and ideas, because I can definitely say I could have kept them from fouling up like this if I were working for them.
  • The expectation of drama by PGI with the call for "Defensive Kills" is a tad overboard. Most matches will NEVER get to this kind of situation, particularly if everyone on both sides moves up and punches in. Worse, with the limitation of doing it within 10 seconds from Capture Attempt to Killed Enemy, and given the game changes to increase the TTK to a slower pace, is also equally unrealistic. It's going to take longer, just due to how mobile Light Mechs and Lightweight Medium Mechs happen to be. That needs fixing, allowing up to 15 seconds, possibly even 20, in order to get that one back in line with the Game Design!
  • A similar kind of issue to the above item is affecting the "Assault" Game Mode's Base Capture, as in most cases it happens that more than 25 Minutes will be needed to complete that process. When teams are really slugging it out, the chances of pulling off the Base Capture in time are diminished SEVERELY.
  • On Day #4 (coming up shortly), PGI has once again FORGOTTEN that their Match Score System penalizes too heavily on loss of Mechs. Most people are NOT going to be able to just get "250 Match Score" all in one Match from a "Siege" Game Mode playthrough. This is likely going to cause a lot of Anti-Team Behavior, which is a toxicity that NOBODY needs to have happen. If they're trying to get people to step out to Scouting, this particular Event Challenge Item will actively force it, as many will try to find alternative ways of doing damage and earning their Match Score in a reasonable period of time. This kind of an Event Challenge SHOULD have been set up as a Cumulative, NEVER an All-At-Once item!!!
...and I'm sure there's more to speak of, but my brain and my available time have temporarily reached their limits. Pardon me while I walk off for a bit. As it stands, I'm really torqued by PGI's Event Handlers having such a lack of foresight on the Event Design. Hopefully, the particular sentences I've set off with Bold Text make it easier for them to fix their mistakes for ALL Future Event Challenge Sets. These errors that they've made are just gross. :angry:

Thank you PGI, it's nice to see an event with a (slight) story arc that pits two Inner Sphere Factions against each other.

I hope you consider it successful enough to do the same for the Clanners in a week or two, this is good stuff!

Having some issues getting my last defensive kill. Could have sworn I killed at least 3 mechs in other matches capping inside my flag. Am I missing something criteria for this?

Had fun with assault mode and kudos to PGI for the event. Today’s prize winning conditions do underline a couple of things PGI doesn’t understand about FW assault mode differences (from Assault QP).

1. Nearly no games will end naturally (not rigged up by the winners to kill 45+ and then cap) on a base cap in FW. It happens far more often in QP though. 3 waves of Respawns near the base cap point and the ability to stop a cap by inflicting damage on the capper make it much rarer in FW. It would be better just to double the number of skirmishes in FW, because Assault works out like skirmish anyway, 98% of the time. Outside of the event even trying to cap is rare, pulling it off is rarer.

2. Defensive kill is a poorly thought out condition as it is easiest achieved in a match you are actually losing....and losing badly. Dropping with a couple of buddies I got both my 2 (got 5 actually) defensive kills in one match against a group that was just much better, dominated our side and tried to get a cap win (allowing the opportunity to get defensive kills). If you are winning, they usually don’t make it to your base (much at least). So, if you roll in a big group....you might want to pug or drop with a couple of friends, if you want better odds of being in a situation (losing) where you can get this done.

it's not PGI's fault your PC is a potato.

to be honest, I'll never understand why so many pilots are so scared of LRMs. Every map's got cover from them, even Polar, and killing a spotter should be second nature... course, i suppose that would involve pilots actually having situational awareness.

This event is just causing more toxicity on the Davion side what with the need to win by capturing the base and the defensive kills.
I'm getting stomach ulcers just playing on Davion side.

Scrap the faction event. It's just going to cause more unhappy players down the line what with the tryhards and the casuals mixed in together.

It felt great to earn my "Ace of spades" finally with 10KMDD and 8 kills in a solid FP match... and yet, nothing. ;-(

Oddly enough, the only "defensive kill" I've gotten was in the first game of the event, where I also got everything else completed; however, I got it while sitting on and capping the enemy's base. They never even attempted to cap our base.

After eight more games, with only three hours left, I still haven't gotten a second defensive kill... The Davion teams just won't push the base... and, this is with me just happening to have the day off... must really suck for those who don't get enough time within the 24hr period to attempt to get all the rewards.

And, trying to ask a whole team to camp base and wait for the enemy to come just so I can get that one defensive kill? LOL! Like that's ever gonna happen.

I think it's a ridiculously specific requirement to ask of PUGs... Oh well.

I feel you... after the first day of events, when I had chosen Davion, only because it was the first on the list of choices... I switched over to Kurita... It was so painful to be on Davion that day... I mean, I was doing well as an individual, but the teams were just so seemingly crippled from the start... on the opposite side, it feels so lame to stomp as a Kurita.

For me, it was a case of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" to get the event rewards. The search time is much longer though.
