Hi, been away for a long time, since before Solaris, I used to be part of Desert Rats, Marik Loyalists which I think may be over now. I was just wondering if there is anything I should really know in returning, how the faction play is like right now.

Fp is now only one bucket. IS vs Clan with changing attacker and defender once per week. So Factions are only for farm and u can change without penalty (if u are not farming hero of x faction).

In general Fp is more trade heavy than in old meta and longer ranges. The main action is in eu and na prime time. Try to get in a group to get priority for the mm and a better xp.

If you really want to play MechWarrior Online (as in actually drop in a 'Mech and get a game without a long waiting), the Quick Play queue is your best bet. Please note that PGI has allowed premade groups in QP again.

Which clans are active? or are they all pretty much dead?

Just drop with a group of friends.

Hey mate,

there are still units dropping into FP on a regular basis as far as I know, despite the game-mode lacking the population it once had. Might be wisest to hop onto the MWOComp-Discord and look for a unit or a group to join there, since they have specified channels for that.

What timezone do you usually play in? Yondu Udonta is still streaming FP several times a week (AP-time though IIRC) on twitch, might be another starter to get a rough understanding about the units / groups still dropping into FP.

dont let let yourself be stopped from the qp folks. In EU Pirme and Na prime there are no wait times (in qp i got longer wait than grouped in fp!). Just dont drop solo in main times. U Will get skipped often.
But you need to be rdy since most folks are xp faction vets with dedicaded drop decks. Jut as a reference: i think i own 8+ Stalker 5S Battlemaster 1g like Erlarge style mechs.

Yondu´s guide has been updated. This still being in my opinion the best reference about the new metas . https://docs.google....t#gid=467264833

The new design of some maps favours the extra long trade builds, and the new cauldron changes make to ignore some Ghost heat penalties viable. Expect more pinpoint builds in IS side, and scaring Blue lasers alphas from the Clanny grannys---

In case you search for older MWO FP forum postings (as I did), please be aware that:

a) You can now switch allegiances between different Houses/Clans with no penalty anymore!

b ) As there are no Scouting Missions, please do not buy any additional Scouting Drop Decks!
(I myself almost did just that.)

c) There is that rare sale for Drop Decks on average once-a-year or so.
