It's been a while since I addressed you all about some of the upcoming balance changes coming to MWO.
You may have heard that there is a new system coming down the pipe that will revisit/change/remove the current quirk system. In order for this new system to work properly, some fundamental changes need to be made for role warfare/information warfare aspects of the game. The first of these changes comes to the almighty ECM.
This change to ECM is a first pass of what may or may not lead to further changes in its operation. By change I'm referring to reducing the effective range of ECM from 180 meters to 90 meters.
NOW HOLD ON! Before you lose your cool, please examine the following points.
First off, ECM was never meant to be a magic bubble used by 1 or 2 'Mechs to protect an entire 12 player team. 180m doesn't really sound like much but in reality it is a very large area being covered. Remember, 180m is the RADIUS for the ECM cover. That's a total of 360m from one edge of the bubble to the opposite edge. That's bigger than 3 football fields worth of distance.
Now it's back to being a magic bubble.

Are you able to speak on if ideas are technically feasible or not? I'm just wondering because in the op there is talk about some of the lock on changes being done because they worked to good against faster smaller targets but the velocity buff was put in to slightly offset that change. Which directly ties into one of my biggest issues with a weapon system in this game (streaks), the current system has them being an anti-light weapon that isn't to good vs bigger targets. On the forums I have brought up some suggestions to nerf them vs lights while buffing them vs bigger mechs but some other players have told me that it might not be possible to do.
My actual suggestions have been things like
-Lower damage and make missiles spread a lot vs smaller mechs, more torso focused on bigger mechs.
-Make it so not all streaks work when fired and base it on target size and speed. As a bonus I think this would be more lore friendly too. Streaks were made to be an ammo saving system, if the system detected that not all missiles would hit then it wouldn't fire. And how often do you get all of a csrm36 shot to hit a strafing locust at 160kph? Make it so smaller faster targets cause some launchers to not fire (like a jam), but still go into cooldown. Some other stats could be buffed to make them stronger vs bigger mechs.
So I'm just wondering if it is possible in this game engine to do things like
-Make the spread of missiles based on the targets weight and/or speed.
-Make a weapon not always fire but go into cooldown and have the chance of that happening be based on targets size/speed.
Is something like that technically feasible? And if so would you ever consider doing something like that?

your second edit suggests that only folks in perfect health should be able to speak on balance issues... I disagree... that is like saying that everyone and their dog has the right to chime in on my builds and how I run my mechs when they don't don't pay a dime for them... not going to happen.

If you are on my team, and you're bringing garbage that drags our team down, then I have every right to comment on what you bring. People bringing things like heavy gauss annihilators to polar highlands and then get angry when nobody supports them are a problem, and need to learn to be team players and bring actually useful things.
