Turns out if you get ULTRA lucky you get an ULTRA rare supply cache, and turns out this one actually contains good stuff.

Posted Image

No SRM2s, no AMS, no targeting computers or jump jets just plain good stuff, thx for the freebies PGI.

EDIT: I would actually prefer for Caches to be much harder to obtain but look like this, getting SRMs, jump jets and other useless stuff gets old very fast.

MWO's lootboxes are very tame and consumer friendly. You get them just by playing the game, and they do not contain any pay-to-win advantages. And unlike Overwatch/Hearthstone, you can buy any items in game you want with real money instantly, instead of being forced into buying a hundred lootboxes just to try to find the one thing you want. I frigging hate Activision Blizzard for their lootbox system.

Even the "new hotness" bolt-ons can be shot off at the first sign of damage, thus it does not compel people to spend money on it.

Just a thought as I understand the FP loyalist claims about rewards:

I get why it kind of makes sense to offer rather tiny rewards for new players, but high tier loyalists rather don't need them. So why not make their boxes harder to obtain (higher progress number), say every five tiers, but a bit more rewarding.

LP progress in not linear... And you don't know what i need.

Box system is bugged and PGI does not care to fix it.

Lot boxes are completely free and nothing is part walled.

Once in a while you get a cool decal or some mc. Neat.

It's free **** and it's nsa.

Please explain then why MWO's version is cancerous.

The original iteration of PGI's lootboxes were at the very least a benign tumor. Pay for a RNGezuse slot machine pull? Nah. They steered themselves away from the bliz/activision cancer boxes.

Yeah, 400MC is “Common”? I wish. Might actually open one up then instead of just letting them sit in inventory.

I love the loot boxes.

I almost have enough letter decals to put "pgiplz" on my PIR.

I can only wonder if that's because PGI has no idea how to make money off it.

I actually really like the new version of the Supply Caches.
....Of course then PGI went and shot it in the foot, and made the chances of actually getting good loot crates really high.

I like that normal ones give you weapons and stuff, sorta like a scavenging thing. More rare caches usually give you decals and such. it's a good system, but then they cheapened it by making Common caches all you ever get. it's basicly an extra Cbill system, since even the weapon items common caches drop are like SRM2.

I mean, what's with a loot crate system, if it doesn't actually ever give anything?

I feel like they're tacked on solely because somebody in their marketing department told them that it's the new hotness on the block (which to be fair it kinda is, looking at every other F2P and even AAA Buy-2-Play title in existence right now). However, the way they've implemented loot boxes is incredibly pointless, but I guess I shouldn't complain too much because a pointless loot box system is MUCH better than something like what we saw in Battlefront 2 EA.

I got a ultra rare and only like 1000 GXP from it. It sucked big time.

lootboxes shouldve been implemented as battlefield salvage like how battletech does it

at least then it would add to immersion

the way lootboxes are now is entirely pointless

My brother and I both opened an Ultra Rare lootbox yesterday. We both got 400 MC. That's the second one I've got this week that gave 400 MC. If you've got a bunch of them sitting in your inventory, open them up. If you don't have tens of millions of C-bills, you can sell the extra weapons and gear that add up in your inventory and those will help pay for some of the consumables you use.

From time to time, I start running a little low on C-bills, and then check my inventory to find at least 1,000,000 worth of C-bills worth of extra stuff in my inventory. I just wish the lootboxes included some of the old stuff, such as a chance at a free mech, or a mechbay, or engines.
