But for those who have played the mech, what do you think about it?
Sitting at 60 tons, with clan battlemech build rules it seems like it can do alot of things, especially involving a mix of energy and missile weapons, though there are even a few ballistic hardpoints scattered between variants.

I'd throw the largest CXL engine it will take, a uac10 and 5ermeds.
has masc but @ almost 100kph without speed tweak, meh.

It is not a bad mech at all, it is just missing something.

The presence of double hand actuators and somewhat awkward engine cap on some variants (reduces your ability to spam DHS) for a mech that is clearly geared towards laser vomit doesn't help.

It has bad hitboxes, but can bring a lot of firepower to the table. Honestly despite being a Battlemech, it brings marginally more fire-power to the table than the Maddog - it's equivalent 60 tonner in the Clan stable. The Maddog being a solid mech, does some things a bit better ie missiles. The Hellfire can bring bigger launchers and more secondaries at faster speed, but the Maddog is just better.
TLDR - It has really bad hitboxes. Often times you leave the MASC out to opt for a larger engine because it's boost is semi-paltry. IE just go up to a xl300 rather than a 280 because the MASC weighs 2 tons.

All but two HLF variants have a higher engine cap than the Vulture, and even those two can still outrun the Vulture for a short time using MASC. Also, downgrading from 81 to 78.3 speed isn't that big of a deal.
The rest is true though.

The MASC and/or bigger engine sacrifice the greater potential firepower - the only reason to take it. At that point you're playing with bad hardpoint layout, **** hitboxes and mediocre firepower.

Welcome to the forums!
I am happy to hear that you are having fun in this less-used BattleMech.
One note: Instead of reviving the thread from 2018, it could be a good idea to start a new thread.
