Finding: FALSE
30 ton 'Mechs have a base armor cap of 210. Urbanmech quirks add 100 total armor. Since skills become a wash(all 'Mechs can have the same skills) we can ignore them and look only at max base armor, where the Urbanmech comes in at 310.
The lightest Heavies in the game, at 60 tons, have a base armor cap of 402, so we don't even need to consider any chassis specific quirks, they *all* beat the Urbanmech easily.
In fact, the Urbanmech *barely* beats out base armor cap of 45 ton mechs, which come in at 306, but that's without counting any of the quirks for any of those either, so most 45 ton mechs can still tank better than an Urbanmech.
So, next time someone says their Urbanmech has more armor than anything heavier than a 45 tonner, please call them on it.
Lol you are funny for real. The total skill-point value of an UM-60 is somewhere in the realm of 380 points, and somewhere in the realm of 580 hp total. Please go math again.
Even then it's not so much literal, as it is comparative. Paired with excellent hitboxes and 360 rotational ability along with seriously ridiculous outstanding armor, the UM stands alone.
Compared to every other mech sub 60 (hell even all mechs in game) tons the urban mech is ton for ton the most ridiculously over armored mech in game. Especially relative to the other 30 ton lights. Cougar is locked into 81 kph, waaay slower than a good Urbanmech and yet suffers tremedously relative to it.
And Good GOD now you can't ignore armor quirks, what is wrong with you. Especially since the quirks applied to the mech have a DIRECT impact on the outcome of the final points applied with Skill tree. The benefits stack.
Not all mechs get the same treatment, esp Clan mechs in the realm of armor, a parity that becomes all too apparent as this game continues on it's course. The Urban mech is crazy tough and in some situations broken as hell.

If you want to claim that the effective survivability of the Urbie is better than an average heavy or whatever, that is completely different than claiming the Urbie has "more armor" than a heavy. The details matter.

I'm not interested enough to do that math, but if it comes just marginally below, it could exceed after that bonus

You mean like saying Clan mechs are superior, right?

A 24% armor bonus gain and a 39% structure gain.
210 base armor + 100 quirk armor = 310 armor x 0.24 = 74.4, resulting in 384.4 armor.
You want to get super technical, it has 14.4 more points of armor than a base Stormcrow at 370 points. The Stormcrow weighs 55 tons, 25 more tons than the Urbanmech.

To make the comparison more fair you should use a fully skilled up Crow, so it's skilled vs. skilled instead of skilled vs. unskilled. It's still going to be a lot of armor relative to its size, but not as drastic.

Right arm 42 armor 14 internal (Max armor)
Right/Left Torso 44 front 7 rear armor, 19 internal (max armor)
Center Toros 66 front 7 rear armor, 28 internal (max armor)
Left arm 37 armor 14 internal (Max armor)
Head 21 armor 21 Internal (1 armor from max of 22)
Right/Left Leg 48 armor 19 internal (3 armor from max of 51)
So total armor value 371
Total Max armor value 378
Total internals Value 132
Total HP of my Urban 503
Max HP of the Urban 510
Due note however hitting a destroyed side even if it is the shoulders of a destroyed armor confirs a 50% damage reduction to the next component. If that is also destroyed another 50% is taken off that damage. So a 10 damage hit to a destroyed shoulder on a destroyed torso should transfer 2.5 damage to the CT.

I love when they run away from me while turned around and then accuse me of hacking for back ct coring them.

So your example Urbanmech has a standard or LFE? because if it has an XL it got destroyed well before anyone gives a flying finkelstien about destroyed component damage transfer and such.

We do them all the time. 2-3 Urbies each all painted like Minions....
So much fun seeing 12 Urbies on the field at once.
Funny as all hell to see the enemy run away, literally, from our Urbie assaults.
