Grasshoper is also supper soild. Can do Gauss and 6 er medium lasors well or even 3 er larges and 4 er mediums. That is probably my favorite, can rack out nice damage at good ranges. Pluss can do xl engine if you so desire, but a light 325 works well on it as well.

Ilya did had my eye for some time, just wasn't sure if I could rock back then, with the new tech I think I can make something out of. And the Grasshopper that one is contending with the Black Knight just not sure whicj one Ill be more leaning to.

I find JR7-Oxide to be my most fun Hero.
Stealth ASN-Dark Death is fun, too.
Sleipnir is fun when dakka is the go.
VPR-Medusa is fun thanks to its JJs and speed.
Vanguard is my current go-to Mech in the PUG queue. A good compromise between fun to pilot and delivering reliably good match scores.

- I didn't see much point on the Mjolnir when the Black Knight is basically the same thing with 5 more tons. Realistically there's more overlap than you'd expect with this thing and the standard variants because the heat savings with a ballistic weapon is counteracted by having fewer heatsinks, but it's still a fun mech.
- A lot of the omnimechs seemed kind of pointless because you would do the same thing with them that you could with any regular variant, but the Black Lanner hero's omnipods have a really interesting set of hardpoints and the default build takes very little tweaking (one ton of MG ammo for a heatsink and lasers to small pulse and you're jet set).
I actually happened to have basically the exact same build on a Centurion as a joke mech (the joke being it's a Centurion that runs over 130 kph), and this unique Black Lanner legitimizes it into a really effective flanker by trading regular top speed for MASC and more machine guns. Just make sure to max survival because while it plays like a light, you're a lot bigger than a light and consequently much easier to hit. - Roughneck Reaver is unique because it's the only Roughneck with high laser mounts without being a complete laser boat, so I figured that'd be neat to play with. I've got the least playtime with this one as of yet but so far it seems pretty decent, as Roughnecks tend to be.
Most of the others in the "heavy" tier IMO have standard variants that can do the same thing just as good if not better. The Marauder for example is fine I guess if you like Marauders but I think the MAD-3R is both superior and more interesting than the Bounty Hunter. Zeus Skokomish is unique because it has MASC so if you want a gimmick build to surprise flankers with a fast assault mech that's an option but IMO the Linebacker omnimech obsoletes it. Just about everything else in the heavy lineup is only really worthwhile for the paintjob compared to standard variants, if even that. I didn't see enough mechs I was interested in to fill up the bundle in the other weight tiers.

ilya used to be one of my favorites when it was the only mech that can carry 3 ac10s. its somewhat less interesting when running other weapons. now we have annihilators and that new victor and several others ive probably forgotten about.
