my favored solution would be mg heat and/or landmines. BT TT has land mines in the game for exactly this reason
Sensor guided direct fire weaponry would be another solution, and would give the targeting computer something else to do.
I don't want to NERF lights, but being able to pair up lbxs with a targeting computer and land mines would be how a real military would handle it
TT has normal land mines and vibrabombs

So you not playing this game about a year, played about 10 matches with lights and literally 0 matches as assault, but know ya the things and telling the stuff? Really? Jeez, these forum warriors...
Yeah, those stats are incorrect. I've played more lights than I have assaults, but I have played both more than that.
And yes, I know the things and telling the stuff because I've played 1600ish matches. Unless of course the game has some how changed dramatically in the last year.
*edit- A bit more since I'm honestly surprised you tried this childish "your stats suck" argument. Did you look at my most frequently played mechs? Mobile heavies, mobile mediums, almost exclusively with JJ. With MPLs, LPLs, and SRMs. The exact kind of mechs that are a great counter for lights. Because you know just how much light pilots love to say "work with your team, use SRMs, focus fire" as counters. My last half year or so of playtime was nearly exclusively with brawling mechs, primarily the Quickdraw. So yeah, I know a bit about how effective mechs can be at countering lights and how much hit detection and speed plays into the problems of killing light mechs.
In fact, I'm amazed you were stupid enough to point at my limited time in an assault mech as some kind of way to strengthen your argument. I'm not some kind of assault fan boy who thinks they should be top of the charts on everything and how dare light mechs even scratch their paint. It's also rather stupid to say that I don't play light mechs and that somehow invalidates my opinion on the way light mechs effect the match. If I did play light mechs frequently then my opinion could be biased in favor of them instead of making me objective.
So perhaps you should simply be quiet while the adults have a conversation.

This stats are a bit "rounded down". If you played less than 10 matches per month in a weight class it is not counted. So, you didn't really play lights and assults much. Still, you are arguing with people, who played more than 5k matches, who were playing lights and assaults a lot and who are active now. I wouldn't like the game to be shaped and game balance affected by retired players who didn't master the classes they want to change, frankly speaking.

There are only three ways those stats are incorrect:
1. You changed your name
2. You played on an alt
3. Most of your play was before PGI implemented PSR and the leaderboard.
Which is it?

Just because one light is overturned doesn't mean you have to take it out on the rest of them.

Even accounting for that rounding down, you'd still think his most active months would reflect his claim and...they don't.

The point is that one good hit will force them to back down, even if it doesn't kill them. That is my reality; that yours is different is not necessarily the game's fault.

This is a shooter, not a sim. The entire core mechanic is the risk/reward associated with aiming things yourself.

You do want to nerf Lights, you just have a roundabout solution for it. And how a real military would handle it is A.) irrelevant to a game that has to follow game theory and B.) BattleTech in general.

So calling into question whether or not a person has enough experience to make a claim is a personal attack, now? And it's only possible that those crying foul at a 'Mech are the ones who are right?
Get real.

Says the one who ignores everything which is said to him, which calls data mined directly from the official page incorrect (and thus PGI's own statistics and data mining)...and now you post something like this. I am sorry, but I call this hubris and double standards.
