I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but some of you kids really need to avoid walking in front of assault mechs during combat, especially when said assault mech is firing.

Particularly the Annihilator.

If you're driving a light or medium, you probably can't be seen so how is one to know when to stop shooting? I did some needless team damage this weekend (also completed all the anniversary challenges, except for the ams challenge which I did in a Nova), in my ANH-2A when all those AC2 rounds should have been hitting the red team.

Thank you for your consideration Posted Image .

Good hunting,

Additional PSA:

MCII's arms are pretty wide apart, so do not blame me if I keep firing my guns when you get in front of its barrels, cause I literally would not see you when zoomed.

Also, don't stand DIRECTLY behind a player who has found a position to peek. Take a wider approach if you want to use a similar firing lane.

Blazing away with my triple RAC2 Roughneck yesterday, and someone sidled in front of me. Like a couple of feet in front. Doubt they had much back armour left, by the time I noticed them and stopped firing.

I can't say I've never accidently done it, not realising there was someone there, who was about to let rip. But in this case, there was a stream of fire, and they just walked into it. Facepalm.

though this does happen needlessly often, just pls keep in mind, mechs don't have a rear view camera or even mirrors (lostech) so just because you see the mech in front of you doesn't mean they know you are behind them. At the end of the day it is the guy who's behind who bears the responsibility for muzzle discipline, even though some team damage is unavoidable when people cut right in front of you

Also, to you jerky teammates boating cLRM, please don't hug my butt and shoot your missiles. I lost a bunch of heatsinks and almost died yesterday because some dude thought "close-support" meant getting in my pants.

Also when you jump in front of an Assault trying to steal a kill (Which makes no sense in this game) expect to be cored and don't whine about it later. Oh and legged, on "accident", definitely would be an accident, no honest it would be an accident, seriously an accident.

or PGI could fix their dumb scoring system so it awards fractional kills so if you do 90% of the damage you should get 0.9 kills when the mech dies, regardless of who does the last 10% of the damage.

if the game stopped rewarding kill stealing people wouldnt do it anymore, because there would be no benefit to do it. its supposed to be a team game, but the scoring system idiotically has teammates competing with eachother for kills.

I was in a few of those drops with you late Friday/early Saturday. I know I saw at least one taking a stroll in front of the cannons.

Never assume malice for what could be incompetence.

(I know I butchered that quote, but you know what I mean)

Most people probably don't realize how bad their position is in relation to blocking other mechs. Situational awareness is a learned skill that takes time to develop.

But that's the whole point of your PSA, to help others become more aware, isn't it.

i generally give assaults a wide berth when im zooming around. but its the way of the light pilot to move faster than they can think. always be ready to roll damage should you do something stupid and not notice a firing assault mech. especially when you just stirred up a hornets nest and are trying to get back to the safety of the group before you die. if your team isnt useless they will be firing to cover you. or just firing because they can, after all thats what assaults are for. its just as a light pilot i often find that a rare occurance and never really worry about it. if i die **** happens.

Assaults use something other than lrm during events? Luckily for me i'm too busying uav farming to be directly in front of any 'teammate' assault.

How about Assaults go find another spot to shoot from every now and then, too, eh? If I'm at one place for over a minute, you can find another place to shoot from instead of parking behind me and then letting double Gauss fly into my backside.

Just for Assault pilots notice coming from a Light/Medium one:
Sometimes we get into position, where if we stay for longer than 0,1 second, we die, so when I see friendly Anni or MCII standing there with something nasty, I rather dive there, eating shots from only 1 mech instead of 10, while I can choose the side which gonna eat those shots. So I'd rather lose an arm from a teammate, then my life from half the enemy team focusing me down in one salvo. If I accidentally die from a teammate with one such dive, I don't mind, because I probably was dead anyway otherwise and it's on me fully.

Just so you know, when you see some dives like these, don't think pilot is clueless, it might be on purpose, and we usually know the risk.

Although there is a case of specific pilots being rather careless of their positioning and poor trigger discipline. So I'd advocate to separate those things.

My issue is when I'm already in a position, behind cover and about to peek, and before I even move out to expose myself and fire, I get lit up like hell from behind. I'll turn and hope that if it's a teammate that hit me, he's got some distance between us and is firing at an enemy's target box because someone else has LOS and he hit the R button, and is hitting me by mistake, not realizing that I'm not the mech in the box.

Then I realize the idiot is standing right behind me, trying to shoot through me because he saw a pretty box. Terrain, walls, and friendly mechs be damned, he's just gotta shoot that red box by any means necessary. Bonus points if he blows half my mech off or outright kills me. Stuff like this, and air/artillery strikes are why I run more than single digit armor in the rear. Sometimes, even back armor in the double digits isn't enough to prevent them from killing you.

Another player type I love are those that like to test their weapons as soon as you touch down, and end up damaging teammates. That "Sorry" doesn't cut it.

most of the time its just bad players who take a spot late and just alpha straight forward without care for their teams who are already there and its usually the bigger slower mechs who are knee biters and *** kissers :/
