Hi All,
Been away for quite awhile, (couple years at least!), and was wondering if there was some advice on the best value for mechs from the latest sale. What would be the best bang for the buck among the current offerings?

Side-note, seems like there have been a lot of changes in the last couple years. Is there a good place to go to catch up on all the changes? something easy to digest and quickly incorporate into play?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome back!

The biggest change is probably the new Skill Tree. I'd have a quick read here at some useful player guides, hints & tips. If you don't understand your refund ledger, we can help!

As for which 'mechs to suggest, what do you like to play?

Light/Medium/Heavy/Assault?
IS/Clan?
Energy/Ballistic/Missile?
Do you love ECM? JJs? MASC?
Do you brawl? Prefer long range? Something in between?

The best value is that Marauder IIC standard pack.

Thanks, Jay. Will take a look at those! Yeah, I saw a huge number of refunds (guess they did away with consumables!), so that will require some reading.

As for what I prefer... Ballistics with energy support... Mid/short range/brawling... love JJs and Medium and above maneuverable mechs

All time fave mechs from the past... Yen-lo-wang, heavy metal, Catas, DDC (I actually liked a lot apparently...)

Clans were just getting into the mix when I quit, so don't have a lot of experience with them, but I do have a lot of Prime variants from early on... and apparently I got the warhammer pack and never logged in...

@Spheroid I was definitely looking at both Marauders... so pretty...

Apparently, I also have a fair number of MC saved up, so anything I can spend those on would be preferred.

Since they should be on sale according to the Harvest Sale page, look at spending your MC on the Bounty Hunter II (Marauder Hero) and/or the Legend Killer (Rifleman Hero).

For brawling ballistic mediums look at the Bushwacker, specifically the X1, X2, P2, and High Roller.

In that case, I'd definitely get something IS so you qualify for the IS Reward for this year which is a Rifleman RFL-8D

Seeing as you already have a Warhammer, It's between 3 'mechs.
Marauder, Rifleman or Phoenix Hawk.

Marauder is a Heavy with Ballistics & Energy, some with JJs, with decent agility, can brawl and is pretty tough.
Rifleman is a Heavy with Ballistics & Energy, excellent agility, good at mid-long range, but no JJs (except that Reward variant).
Phoenix Hawk is a Medium with Ballistics & Energy, excellent agility, JJs, is decently tough and some come with ECM or MASC.

Marauder if you want a tough brawler with a single heavy Ballistic (Heavy Gauss, AC20, AC10), energy back-ups & JJs.
Rifleman if you want an agile mid-ranger with dual/triple/quad medium Ballistics (AC2, AC5, AC10) & energy back-ups.
Phoenix Hawk if you want a highly mobile harasser with energy weapons, a single medium Ballistic (AC2, AC5, AC10) & JJs.

Oooo, thanks Joe! Yeah, straightforward resources are helpful....

One question: I have, what seems like, a ton of Historic XP of various mechs I ran a lot. Should I just go ahead and convert all of that into the new system or is there a reason to hold it back?

You can buy a chassis of the same variant and use that HXP to level it. Most important is to transfer Historical skill points and use General skillpoints on new chassis only.

For things to spend MC on other tham mechbays look at:

Cyclops Sleipnir

Hellbringer virago
