That has since been removed
Strikes don't damage faces


Use HGauss, aim face-ish
Curse Bubble canopies (as the hitbox is a tiny arbitrary square inside that sphere)

Challenge is significantly easier if you're packing heavy gauss.


Or... if you know one person who can queue up against you in a specific Solaris division, and they let you headshot them.

I've been playing this game for years and have about 15 head shots. Stupid ping is probably 80% of the problem - it's generally 300 plus unless Oceanic gets a run.

Just fot mine today was quite funny a jager with roatry 2's and mg start face staring at me making my job 1000x easier. The maych was a loss but worf it.

I can say with 100% fact - they do good sir!

I killed myself with my own airstrike, which took out my cockpit (which was already open).

Possibly the most rare of situations in MWO lol.

I think for the head shot event they should make every hitbox on all mechs be the Head Hit box... IMO

A bit outdated (it was pre-skill tree), but you can probably make up for it by mounting HMLs instead of SPLs.

Well until the patch this month as heat reduction gets heavily ramped up if you have plenty of heat sinks.

I tried at first 2 games with laser vom with no avail. Then I realized... wait, rather than waiting for someone to shut down and hope to be in the right place at the right time, I am just going to take something that can pinpoint 1 hit ko. Got on my dual gauss anni, first game first mech encountered... boom headshot. MCIIC was peaking over a hill. I caught him, didn't even zoom.

It's hard to describe, but like sometimes, you just feel like you have it. And at that moment, I just knew I was going to headshot that boy. And BAM. Rest is history. Sucks for the other team to lose a 90 tonner at the first engagement first volley.

I can only suggest... don't try too hard. A lot of time, it's more of a feel. Like, don't zoom it to get like max view. When things are that zoomed in, the amount of bounce is only going to mess you up. Just guesstimate where the movement and cockpit is going to be and let it rip.

Remember... there are plenty of people that like to stand still when they fire. (cause, most likely, they are aiming for your cockpit too, and it's just a lot easier to not have to factor your own movement) So those are opportunities no.1 Two, don't lose sight of your goal in the middle of a firefight. I lost all my weapon one match and stood still in front of this dood. He proceeded to spend the next 10 seconds CTing me. Afterward, I asked him... did you not need the headshot done? "Oops, forgot"

Like, it's instinct to shoot at the biggest target, so always keep your objective in mind and try to take every opportunities. That's honestly the best way to go about this.

You can get your own tag damage. So it's not so bad. Use streak with tag. There doesn't seem to be a cooldown. So what you can do is put on chain fire. It sucks that you have to stare at the enemy, but say you have 5 launchers, you can get 5 in a span of a second if you have the tag laser on in the moment of impact. So if you are REALLY good, you can technically get it done in one game (10 chain fire volleys from a streakcrow)

I refuse to do the head shot challenge

saw a mini argument break out on one twitch streamers channel after one guy in a match said it was almost impossible
to get a head shot

it sort of made me wonder how many players have the 1000 head shot Guillotine achievement?

I know I been on the training grounds more then a few times trying to test out head shot locations

anyone want to post how many head shots they have?

in case PGI is watching I don't actively go after head shots I only have 22 after 22k drops

I always thought people hated head shot (remember when CW started and the drop ships where head shot experts)

any more thoughts

Headshots or head hits occur more than people realize, however most of them don't do enough damage to deliver a killing blow. Landing 2 cERPPC hits on a target deals 20 damage compared to the max head armor value of 18 leaving on 2 damage to go internal while the internal hp is around 15 points. Now Landing another cERPPC hit is often more difficult as the head hit pilot is now more likely to get twisting around or will completely disengage from a fight due to how close they are to death. This is due to even a decently laser racking could end up putting them down.

With everyone shooting for heads I got 5 just playing this weekend(2 days) lol. I stopped shooting for them after the first 1.

1v1 counts for this event. flamers and some pulse. Sooner or later you will shut someone down.

yeah head shot kill and head shot dmg is very good points

99% of my Mechs I have only 7armor in the head and it pretty rare to get killed from getting shot in the head

except back when CW first started and those drop ships where head shot machines

seems there should be a ton of people that have Guillotine achievement
