I will never use them because i am following the suggestion made by Russ to the founder community. "Use your premium time when you feel the game meets with your standard"

You wonder why new players don't stay around. It could have a match maker like wot but they had to break their all ready tiny player base into smaller groups.

The continued ignoring of long standing issues too, makes me wish I could turn it off.
Also it really seems that PGI is focusing on playing with XMLs and vomiting out 'mech packs but not actually adding substantive features and content.
I mean I REALLY enjoy being able to exit the game directly, but HOW MANY F'ING YEARS DID WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THAT SIMPLE, COMMON SENSE, (and incredibly minor) FEATURE?

Just out of curiosity, what are the main factors that drive your friends away from MWO? Inability to play together or something else? What are their main complaints?

?
I too have a lot of premium time just sitting. I don't use it though, because I no longer care about buying and leveling new mechs and I have plenty of currency...because I no longer care about buying and leveling new mechs. But mainly I don't run it because I just don't think about it anymore.
Why on earth would you go out of your way not to run premium time just to spite PGI or Russ? They don't care if you do or don't run it; it's no skin off their nose. You get nothing if you let it sit, you get some extra virtual currencies if you use it, to spend in this slowly dying game. May as well use it as long as your thinking about it.
Speaking of which: Since you have given me this lovely reminder, excuse me while I go activate a months worth since I just caved to peer pressure, and did in fact -just last night- buy a Piranha, despite my statement above. This leads to a much more important point: nerfs incoming (I'm sorry, but it's inevitable, with very few exceptions PGI has nerfed every mech I have purchased within 3 months of said purchase).

Edit: Love all the comments about not using it is a waste, grudge, etc. OP wants to use it when he knows it will be the best experience for them. But, OP must realize that day will never come, so just burn it. I kicked off 30 days because I knew I’d be playing to get the Halloween goodies. But, you can see that I only put in 72 games during that time. I sign in, accomplish the challenge, sign off. Pretty much a waste. But, I know it is not going to get better, so better to get a bit extra when I do play.

The only PT I have is from events..........why spend a penny with a corporation that "just can't get it right?" Why reward them?
It's like buying a new mech series and then have that series nerf'd out-of-existence......why spend the $$$?
Pass. Now, if PGI returns what it took in the nerf's, I'd consider spending real money again.

Why don't you create an alt to play with them? Why should the rest of the Tier 5 userbase be subjected to you playing with meta 91 skill point mechs?
I made one to see how NPE experience was for Solaris ans how many skill points you get (29M and 61 skill points) and did 1100+ my 2nd match in a trial dire wolf and I'm not good at all.

It's a risk to back any Kickstarter. At least this game exists (6 years isn't too shabby really) and didn't crash and burn like that other Battletech game--what was it? Mechwarrior Tactics or something? You are not guaranteed to even get a product when you back something.

And yet Mech Warrior Living Legends is still going with out any funding really... hmmm.....
