2 things that i need to know..
1. have they announced a more solid release date yet?
2. Why is the whole MW5 improved in 1 years time frame? from reading above it kind of feels they did not added much stuff in the game, instead of just took the same kind of gameplay from last year and did it on another map/setting... so whats new they showed in this years demo?

The AI didn't twist.
You can walk through a building like a football player bursts through a paper banner.
WHERE ARE THE GOT DAMN SQUISHIES?

The objective was to save the town from the enemy, not from yourself
My main issue was that it felt too much like a FPS, hopefully other missions feature bulkier mechs...
And that I don't think there's a multiplayer component (that the old Mechwarrior series did have) : Make it a Lance simulator, with up to 4 players (or bots) teaming up to form a Lance.

This game will not be remotely close to that.
Shoot, there are no energy management mechanics, and angle of attack doesn't seem to play any sort of role in damage application.

I would wholeheartedly rather have a good thorough game, rather than have silly accessories such as VR or RTX supported reflections 300% of the time, especially if those things detract from the former.

Also i knew it will happen, but the amount of reused assets, ****** animations and lack of anything interesting just shocked me (even tho i hate PGI and i knew they will try to serve another minimally viable product). Yep, MW5 will flop, just as i felt earlier this year.

I dont know about others but I would really really like this, make MW5 into a multiplayer spinoff of MWO. Bring in true salvage, more customisation, more meaningful factions and more concequence to our actions and BOOM you have it - the game MWO should have been.

If the single player campaign is just HBS BattleTech with real time mech sim instead of turn based strategy, I'd probably be way into that.

HBS had a fun romp, albeit short lived. If there was similar effort into putting interesting characters in the game, and ideally making the people that hire you not steal the show like a DMPC of some kind, it could draw you in. Likewise, if missions are just "Go here, kill the dudes, come back", it's going to be the same boring hamster wheel as this game. Escort missions, recon missions, stealth missions, and missions taking place in interesting landscapes. They need to take a few minutes out to just play the old mechwarrior titles, and if they can take five minutes to not salivate over the solaris 7 sportstravaganzas like everyone else ever, I'm sure they'll find some fun missions that they can draw inspiration from.
Or we could end up with a procedurally generated go-here-kill-that nascar track of a game that is effectively MWO with bots and nicer graphics. That's what I am keeping my ear to the ground for. In the end, I'm going to be picking it up, and hope PGI can pleasantly surprise me, but these past seven years have left me sceptical.

I mean, even if it is bad, people still play Destiny and look at how bad that game is. Survives only.because of witless Bungie fanboy hordes.

I liked the gameplay alot. The graphics improved tenfold and this is gonna be a real spiritual successor to the old Mechwarrior games. The trailer was ok but I learned that you can't trust trailers, I disregard them most of the time. I look forward to it, very much so and I'm sure that PGI has close contact to Catalyst regarding story and lore, probably even enlisted writers from them, considering they also do this for their exclusive mechs. What many people here are forgetting is that PGI single-handledy kept Mechwarrior on PC alive for a very long time. I don't regret a single dime I spent on MWO even if I'm less enthuisastic about it nowadays(which isn't surprising with a playtime of 1000hrs+).
P.S.: Someone asked for Lance gameplay and the game supports exactly 4 man coop. They even showcased coop on the con.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with merging MW2 and the Mercenaries concept. There is literally a MW2: Mercenaries game that followed up on MW2 decades ago. Same with MW4. The difference here is that PGI decided to build the Mercenaries game first instead of making a traditional linear campaign and putting out a Mercenaries sequel afterwards.
And it's the 5th numbered game in a very long running series. Of course it's going to be a new game based on old ideas. That's what sequels are.
Also, it's voilà.
