Well, we waited for 'Mech_Con and what did we get out of PGI?
  • Promises to listen to the community more for balance and FP in 2019
  • New 'MechPack
  • Announcement of holiday freebies
  • A demo of MW5 gameplay, which is of a quality that we saw last year and is somehow less visually impressive than what they showed us in 2016
Seriously, what were we holding out for? There was nothing significant announced. All this radio silence for MONTHS and that's it? What do we have to look for in 2019? Are we going to get new maps? New weapons? IS Omnis? Better sound effects? Revamped FP modes?

The player population, at least by the Steam charts and Jarl's List compilations, is shrinking. Anecdotally, it's increasingly harder to find matches that are not releasing the valves for PSR. I don't want to see this game disappear, but I would be lying if I said this wasn't an extremely disappointing showing from PGI at best, and downright unprofessional at worst.

Somebody had to do it, and it is justified.

Unprofessional is exactly the right description. If you're going to come out on stage with your CEO and top couple of associates everyone should be on the same page about what is being talked about, who will speak on what, what *not* to say, and the overall message you want to send your audience home with. They accomplished none of this and most ridiculously appeared to be playing it all by ear. I suppose it explains much of the product but TBH this was even worse than I anticipated, crazy how a business with these type of people can even be a going concern.

That said, I love MWO, and MW5 looks like a big step back from what we've seen.

Few friends couldn't make it to mechcon this year due to illness that they didn't want to bring with them and it seems like they aren't missing out on much.

Pods are interesting I imagine but beyond that gimmick I haven't heard or seen anything worthwhile.

It's kind of a slap in the face; blowing all this time, energy, and capital on a convention that they really don't have anything to present at and are evidently barely interested in actually participating as one of the panels.

Give me Diablo Immortal over this.

The pods are not interesting at all, IMHO, because they aren't selling us the pods or the equipment to build one. Ultimately, few of us will ever experience the game that way and it's not enough to have a convention for.

Are you implying the game has moved forward 1 year at all?

All those patches seeing nothing done because "they're saving it for mechcon". Road map is being held off because "they dont want to show what they're doing".

I should have known better.....

Really not 1 Solaris update? They can't see anyway to make this mode so people play it? They can't remove the 7 launch buttons so maybe we could find a match!!!

It honestly looked and felt like they had started preparing for the presentation less than an hour beforehand. The audience barely clapped.

It really was a disgrace.

This was like if your a kid and its Christmas morning and your drunk dad comes in and mumbles something about being a better dad and passes out instead of giving you toys.

If this was a troll it was even worse because it shows them to be out of touch.

Yeah, we got a promise of new faction stuff. In April.

Sure. Haven't ever heard that promise before.

But they have the entire months of December, January, February, and March to work on it, so I'm sure they'll really knock it out of the park, right? I mean, that's what their previous track record for faction warfare looks like, right?

As you might be able to tell, I am not interested in hearing promises anymore. I have to see results.

It surprises me that people expected anything else. I doubt they are willing to put any rescourses into MWO...not even for a time jump

It's not just that they announced nothing, it's that they did so in such a haphazard and unprofessional manner after hyping us up for months about goodies coming at Mech_Con.

And, to wit, they didn't have anything to announce for MW5 other than their delayed release date, so...yeah.
