People take IS because before recently a lot of units were Clan, then they switched.
People also like more variety.

Eveyone needs to stop talking about it and how it is showing how 'broken' things are when the counter itself is broken.
Suppose there is some irony in there somewhere.

Regardless.
If there was 12 IS players and only 11 Clan we would have one side getting ghost drops and the other not playing at all.
If there were 36 IS players and 0 Clan, it is ridiculous that those players cannot fight each other without having to swap to the other side, which as we know, some players simply will not do.
The irony of the situation to me is that we have players who would like to play the mode but cannot.

Running a Streak Arctic Wolf and NOT had Clan Active Probe. And then be unable to lock a nearby ECM mech.
Now..
I wonder...
Who would run such a build. Surely not the OP, right?

You might be too young to remember back a long time ago Papa Russ smashed all the buckets. We can't have these times anymore. Most of the old photos were burned but i was able to save this one.
Over all. its always been like this. PGI gave us reasons or didn't let us play over and over.
I still find it funny they setup a system to win planet then designed it so not defending your planet was a better option. Half the nights we played group q because we didn't have time to win a planet on top of this.

I just see selfish Clanner "Pros" using pugs as meatshields, hiding on corners to farm damage and then being salty for being stomped.
There are just few Clanners who are willed to make a battle plan and who try to fulfill this plan. -LAS for example are always trying, always fighting and planning and i really like to fight them!
But always if i see one of these "pros" they are hiding, not caring for their team and running away when we come.
In my conclusion Clan sucks atm because the players are selfish and not coordinated which is nice, because its lore.
I see the worst builds ever imaginable on Clan side, i see the lack of communication and i see elite players hiding and running away all the time.
P.S. When i play my Clan account i organize the pugs and we stomp IS teams easily. I even make more damage on average with my UNSKILLED Clan mechs thanb with my 1st account fully skilled IS mechs.

Just the **** STOP BRINGING LURMS EVERYWHERE!!!
Clan Elite:
Stop hiding like you are all fainthearted canisterheads...oh wait...! You ARE Canisterheads but still you can organize your ******* pugs!

I see a lot of the same when playing as clan against IS: lrm noobs, "IS elite" guys in the back, etc. You see clan mechs retreat (kite) more often and you do more damage as clan against IS because of the differences in clan and IS mechs. If you have a 12 man IS push into your clan team you won't win in a pitched fight, unless you're ridiculously more skilled

Not really, player behavior is guided/dictated by game design. People are smart, they WILL take the path of least resistance to winning.

These days there are still more IS players, but IS wins a little more often than they used to.
