I'm looking at the Hellspawn Paralyzer mech that's on sale right now and it can apparently run Stealth Armour. I'm considering buying that but I'm not quite sure how it works. Also, what kind of builds run well with it.

I'm wondering if MPLs, Flamers and SRM2s are ok. Something like this... PARALYZER

Or go for ERLL and some supporting weapons.

Stealth armor basically masks your heat signature when people are using Heat Vision. It makes it so you can't be targetted by most all means. So when an enemy see's you, your mech does not display a Red Marker or box around your mech. Problem is you don't dissipate heat very well when firing weapons while Stealth is activated and I believe its the same weight as standard armor. I'm not really good at explaining things, someone else probably will be better at it.

^ You pretty much summed it up.

Also, the paralyzer is terrible.

If you want medium stealth shenanigans I suggest the ghillie.

Stealth armor makes enemies unable to lock and (after the latest patch) generates heat constantly, when activated. For long range mechs ECM alone is enough for avoiding locks, so stealth armor benefits close range ambushers more.

I played HSN-7D and Grinner a bit, so there is build:
6xMPL and 2xJJs, otherwise your build
Jets are very helpful, don't drop these completely.
6xMPL and 3xJJs with XL300 - this one as HSN was quite XL friendly as for me even before and with recent nerf to LFEs, there is even less reason to use those if you have a spare XL.

I see. How do you set up the Ghillie? LBX 10 and 4 ERML with JJ? Or go with ERLLs again? Could be very hot with the latter.

You will want to use Guass, so you don't build up heat when you fire. You will not want to use Energy weapons unless you have Stealth turned off.

Typically set up like this: GHILLIE

Tweak armor to your liking. (i prefer 1-2 back armor on everything, not suited for everyone)

Yeah, that website doesn't work for me, unfortunately. I can see just the background wallpaper and nothing else. Could you do one in Smurfy's Mechlab, please?

Cool. With that, I could maintain some distance in the flank and attack while keeping myself safe.

How 'bout a SPL + SRM loadout for the Paralyzer? Play it like a light mech with the Stealth armour on, disable, fire, fire, run away?

No idea for the Paralyzer, i just run 6 MPL without stealth on an XL280.

I would probably drop it down to an XL285 just to add another double heatsink.

Hmm... I see. I'll run some tests to see how it goes before I commit to a purchase. Thanks.

There's also a cooldown period between activating stealth again after turning it off, so be aware of that. I was running a stealth raven a few days ago with srms and lasers. You can fire a few times, but then need to break off the engagement to cool off. Great as a skirmisher. You do still have ECM so even with stealth off, you have some protection. Your own targeting is also limited in range while stealth is on so you can have it off to find an isolated target or someone to flank, turn it on, engage, break off, cool down. Rinse, repeat. It's lots of fun if you have a buddy with you to prey on those outliers.

All Hellspawns are garbage. You can experience the nature of stealth with a much cheaper Pirate's Bane, Commando-2D or ECM Flea.

This is no longer true. The latest patch made it so that stealth armor generates heat over time, like constantly firing energy weapons. As long as you have enough heat sinks, you don't have to worry about heat issues. The latest changes make it easier for 'mechs with high-heat weapons to use stealth armor.

How good are they at dealing damage while also being able to disable enemies? I've come across the Flea quite often and I end up squishing it in a couple of seconds. Maybe they're bad pilots and I'm lucky on top of that but it still feels like a coffin to pilot a Flea in my book.

You've encountered people who don't know how to masc their presence (see what I did there?). The fle is a scoot and shoot murder machine.

Even when testing the Flea in Testing Grounds, it feels underwhelming to me.

Stealth armor is flat out broken, it jams UAVs, cannot be countered by UAVs and cannot be countered by BAP or TAG. You used to need multiple ECM mechs for an overlapping ECM bubble, now you only need one stealth armor mech.

I think I'll buy the Paralyzer with MC. It just seems too good to pass up.
