I just appreciate that there were only a couple comments on this so far where they said the reason that the top tier light mech pilots are about 50 match score light compared to their peers is because I am personally not good enough at playing a light mech. XD I told my friends there would be at least one lol.

Playing a light is unforgiving and will make you want to take a break. Many of us take long breaks from lights and the game. However once you understand how to play a light and understand your strengths and the enemies weakness, there is not a stronger mech on the field. A good light pilot can turn a game if played smart. Last night perfect example, I was in my flea and died with only 81 points of damage. However I managed to place that 81 points of damage into 5 different mechs and then forced lights to chase me. The chase went on for about 2 minutes, in that time frame another light Yeonne, in his locust was able to greatly reduce the amount of other mechs left. Think he finished the game with 6 kills in that match. Sometimes a playing light is not about damage, its about being an annoying little SH**

Right, and that's another point. There's a lot of stuff which good lights do which doesn't translate to match score whatsoever. Effectively getting half the enemy team to "chase the rabbit" while the rest of your dudes crush the other half, for example. XD But even if we can't reward stuff like that it would be good to figure out what *could* be better rewarded etc. I don't want to make it too big of an ask in terms of programming new stuff for the game, but tweaking some of the existing numbers seems reasonable to do.

Oh I am good at playing bait. My usual tactic though I legging. I just go and leg all the damn assaults I can. Its not completely their fault though. The advent of stealth armor AND small maps allow me to be at Charlie Lances drop zone in less than a minute of match start on most maps.

Crazy but serious. It's got some problems mainly it's hit boxes. It's like the thing has two torsos. While it packs almost as much firepower as a MCII4 it doesn't hold up to the loss of components as well

Smurfy link?
I actually use LRM but have used less due to the garbage lock angle Nerf. Etc.
Really upset at the backpedal maneuver when they "tested" in los buff direct fire out of Los classic high arc debacle.

No to OP, if a light pilot is under-performing, they shouldn't get a MS boost as if that somehow fixes it. Lights are the hardest weight class to play, newbies need not apply.

So a newbie should get what? A Dire Wolf?
Please.
Elitist.
Lights are the de facto starting mech.
Your opinion is an MWO aberration.
They are the cheapest to field and support.
Because of the mwo aberration of no economy.
Your opinion is skewed.
ALSO rather than just slap out the newb trash statement?
Maybe give solid advice rather than epeen stupidity.

Newbies shouldn't play lights and do tend to play asaults badly.

If people listen to a 0.67 KDR pilot, they'll get what they deserve :P

Stat shaming.
Poor form.
Still elitist drek.
Zero advice.
Strike 3.
You're out.
New guy gets no light. Can't cope in an assault either according to you.
Leaves mediums. (Actually a good idea but I see no advice)
And heavies. (Not recommended but doable. ZERO advice! Pattern?)

Ding ding ding, newbies should play heavies. Fast enough to follow the team, not too fast to wander into the front by mistake, enough armor to survive a few hits.

The only reason you feel embarrassed is that you don't intend to learn and achieve better scores.

Honestly a new players first experience should not be in a light.

They are the most difficult class to play. There are no two ways about it. They are easily killed and are equipped to do the least amount of damage. Now once mastered they are potent in the right hands. However they are still super fragile.

And why is this?
I'll tell you.
NO ECONOMY.
Every stat-warrior , min maxer, every day guy piloting unsustainable meta builds and ac heavy rigs make it hard for a match that more than likely in a more sim style engagement would have 4 lights 4 meds 3 heavy and 1 highly unlikely assault.
That's the 1st issue.
Because money. It's not immersive. Because it's NOT A FACTOR.
Everyone and their bro running builds that would not normally be fielded and supported.

lights are just the most sensitive class to player skill. someone who is really good with lights will be toppling multiple assault mechs each match. yet most of potato tier hasn't figured out the trick to light success (and that is: never stop moving). not to say i wouldn't mind a scoring redux. the one size fits all scoring system has lead to a lot of bad play through stat padding and other shenanigans.

I think this is a point that most people don't want to think about or acknowledge, rather they just want to point to the lower population and say there is a problem. The reality is, light mechs take more skill to play effectively but when they are played effectively, they are monsters. I can honestly say 9 times out of 10, I would rather face off against an Annihilator, KDK-3 or other massive, firepower heavy Assault than a lone Piranha piloted by someone who has even above average skills in a light.

So this being the case, it isn't really an issue with the score system, rather it is with the players, most of whom don't have a clue how to pilot a light mech effectively and it is this and this alone that drags the match scores down for lights in general. It also the reason the light mech que is so much smaller as well.

With an economy like that, players who play well enough to sustain bringing the strongest 'Mechs just stunt players who are not quite at the same level into staying in their less powerful 'Mechs. This is not ok, especially when you want to sell all the 'Mechs to all the players.

You can still sell all the mechs and still rework 4/4/4 to 4/4/3/1
Point being.
You want matches. Play light and medium.
You want your snowflake special heavy or assault. You're gonna wait.

Then people who simply don't like the play-style required for lighter 'Mechs are not going to play because the wait times will be too long.

6 kills, and the only reason it wasn't 7 is because I ran out of ammo for the SRM launchers.

The next match was a similar performance, only that time we had victory. Posted Image
