Hello Everyone,

Been a while since I made a suggestion so I figured why not a map suggestion.

In war, bridges are always a focal point, so why not a bridge map in MWO?

My suggestions:
  • Sky-high cloudy bridges
  • multiple bridges going in the same direction at differing heights so that we may jump to one on either side, above, or below
  • has a shallow river basin below that cannot be reached without running out of fuel and damaging both legs

I think the map could promote:
  • ranged weapons
  • zoom capabilities
  • ecm
  • jump-jets
  • both fast and slow speed mechs
  • armour sharing
  • tactical awareness

Bridges usually have midpoints and midsections that are built somewhat high. They could block lrms if that's an issue.

The bridges could also have gaps, like in Crimson Strait on the platform, where mechs could fall through to the shallow river below if not careful, or possibly to a secondary bridge below. There could be engineered gaps or gaps created by damage of some kind. There could be ramps from the second level to the upper level from a collapse.

Typically a bridge can be crossed in less than 15 minutes. But if multiple bridges were added that are 5 times the width of the widest mech, and as long as the longest map, it would be something to see and play upon, especially within clouds, and possibly targeting outages due to weather conditions because of the elevation.

Within Canyon Network, there is a bridge, and it rarely sees action. Not only that, the bridge is extremely small and somewhat outdated as it accommodates a select few mechs from the first iteration of the game. Even then, the bridge could barely handle the size of an Atlas. Then the bridge was awesome and talked about quite a bit, but today it's archaic and forgotten.

So to sum it up, I think we need a bridge map where the ground cannot be reached due to distance and the ground cannot be seen due to clouds.

Thoughts?

I mean this map already exists within at least two other maps....

not to mention much like solaris city maps that carter heavily to only a few niche builds are crap maps and this would favor heavier longer range mechs even stronger than solaris favors light and brawly mechs

now it may be able doable as a FP invation map and we could use more variaty there anyway

River city? I think the idea of an only bridge map is a bad idea that'd just encourage people to line up single file and die one at a time while jumpjetmechs jump over their allies to get shots off... not an ideal situation. Not to mention falling off the bridge....and other elements that go along with a bridge.

... I would imagine it being a wide bridge with walls you're not falling off of. out of all the problems with the idea these are not

That's true..River City has a bridge that is off to the side and barely used today.

If the map is extremely wide and there are multiple spans going across, as well as possibly even being a double-decker, I don't think what you described would occur as often as you propose. When River City had the old spawns, what encouraged that behaviour before was the fact that the bridge was incredibly skinny. But without the shenanigans that bridge push was exciting and tactically fun.

Also the reason I said many spans is because of the different types of bridges that could be possibly implemented, like the double decker that I had mentioned.

Here are some other types to consider that could be implemented;

Swing Bridge

Movable Bridge

Transporter Bridge

I'm gonna have to go out on a bridge and support this idea. Sounds cool, not to mention different.
