I like IS lights more in general, but when limited to one mech, taking omnimech becomes more tempting. If the question was "if you were limited by IS or Clan lights-only, which side would you choose?", I'd take IS. I love a lot of IS lights and only a couple of Clan lights.

"What the other guy said"
Awkwardly puts the microphone on the floor and walks off.

There's definitely something about the Piranha... I'm not sure it's entirepy the 'Mech at fault though. It's perfectly possible to just flat out evaporate in one, an alpha from even a Grinner will saw your legs right off. Yet it performs very well. I jump into mine if it becomes apparent that the match maker is planning to give me a rough time this evening.

The cool thing about Piranhas is they are about the only thing that can force PUGs to coordinate and focus fire on a single target. Even ******* solo PUGs with no semblance of teamwork all seem to agree that the Piranha must be deleted and tend to act accordingly when one shows up.

Based on performance, only, the Flea. Based on performance and a desire to vary things up while still retaining performance, the Mist Lynx.

uh yeah, the right answer is IS light... you must be joking right? Do you actually think a Kit Fox is anywhere near the same as a Pihranha let alone a Locust?
The only reason why clans can compete are because of Micro spam on piranhas, leading up to that IS outclassed clans from the Medium category down in almost every respect bar raw firepower. Even now it's reflected in how scouting matches play out.

Either way I think I might choose Wolfhound (despite not owning any) because its armor quirks and engine cap let it play like a more traditional light or play like a Puma or Cute Fox slow light. Other choice might be the Raven chassis in general because you've got a lot of different build choices between all of the variants. Honorable mention to Urbie but if you're building one of those laser boat Urbies you can basically do a similar thing on the Wolfie.

SRM Bomber Kit Fox hits very hard for its 30 tons of weight.
