Well, any 30 ton light mech with its engine set at 97 kph has enough space for that kind of firepower provided they have the hardpoints, and most of them are gonna be just as squishy as the Kit Fox.
The Kit Fox was just not made for that kind of close-in brawling role, its made for long range fire support and/or tech support while grouped up with the team with its C-arm. In fact the most common configuration I see on quickplay now is a Kit Fox with a C-arm decked out with AMS and ECM since that type of build is incredibly useful.
Any time I have tried to take the Kit Fox into a more aggressive "traditional light" type of fighting role it ends badly because for whatever reason they die so quickly, you can blame it on the hitboxes or inadequate armor or whatever. Even when doing team support sometimes I'll get hit with a stray PPC or AC10 volley and gee I just got randomly headshotted for the 3rd time across 10 games or wow, there goes my side torso even though it was only yellow before it got hit.

Kit Fox should not used as Brawler but should be utilized as a jump capable Skirmisher. Always go with a bigger buddy and provide support by SRM bombing while jumping around. If you play against organized teams you will understand just how deadly a Kitbox can be.
